Combination theorems for Wise's power alternative

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 113, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract We show that Wise's power alternative is stable under certain group constructions, use this to prove the power alternative for new classes of groups and recover known results from a unified perspective. For groups acting on trees, we introduce a dynamical condition that allows us to deduce the power alternative for the group from the power ...

Noncommutative topological entropy of endomorphisms of Cuntz algebras II [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A study of noncommutative topological entropy of gauge invariant endomorphisms of Cuntz algebras began in our earlier work with Joachim Zacharias is continued and extended to endomorphisms which are not necessarily of permutation type.

A note on the cohomology of moduli spaces of local shtukas

open access: yesBulletin of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 57, Issue 12, Page 3709-3729, December 2025.
Abstract We study localized versions of spectral action of Fargues–Scholze, using methods from higher algebra. As our main motivation and application, we deduce a formula for the cohomology of moduli spaces of local shtukas under certain genericity assumptions, and discuss its relation with the Kottwitz conjecture.

On Partial Groupoids Associated with the Composition of Multilayer Feedforward Neural Networks

open access: yesИзвестия Иркутского государственного университета: Серия "Математика"
In this work, partial groupoids are constructed associated with compositions of multilayer neural networks of direct signal distribution (hereinafter simply neural networks). The elements of these groupoids are tuples of a special type. Specifying such a

The shift‐homological spectrum and parametrising kernels of rank functions

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 112, Issue 6, December 2025.
Abstract For any compactly generated triangulated category, we introduce two topological spaces, the shift spectrum and the shift‐homological spectrum. We use them to parametrise a family of thick subcategories of the compact objects, which we call radical.

Hom ω$\omega$‐categories of a computad are free

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 112, Issue 6, December 2025.
Abstract We provide a new description of the hom functor on weak ω$\omega$‐categories, and show that it admits a left adjoint that we call the suspension functor. We then show that the hom functor preserves the property of being free on a computad, in contrast to the hom functor for strict ω$\omega$‐categories.

Conformal optimization of eigenvalues on surfaces with symmetries

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 112, Issue 6, December 2025.
Abstract Given a conformal action of a discrete group on a Riemann surface, we study the maximization of Laplace and Steklov eigenvalues within a conformal class, considering metrics invariant under the group action. We establish natural conditions for the existence and regularity of maximizers. Our method simplifies the previously known techniques for

On finiteness conjectures for endomorphism algebras of abelian surfaces

open access: yes, 2007
It is conjectured that there exist finitely many isomorphism classes of simple endomorphism algebras of abelian varieties of GL_2-type over \Q of bounded dimension.

On Charged Fields with Group Symmetry and Degeneracies of Verlinde's Matrix S [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We consider the complete normal field net with compact symmetry group constructed by Doplicher and Roberts starting from a net of local observables in >=2+1 spacetime dimensions and its set of localized (DHR) representations.

Nielsen Type Numbers of Self-Maps on the Real Projective Plane

open access: yesFixed Point Theory and Applications, 2010
Employing the induced endomorphism of the fundamental group and using the homotopy classification of self-maps of real projective plane , we compute completely two Nielsen type numbers, (f) and (f), which estimate the number of periodic points of f ...
