An Update: Enzymatic Synthesis for Industrial Applications

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 64, Issue 27, July 1, 2025.
Biocatalysis has become a sustainable and cost‐competitive alternative to established chemical synthesis, enabling the enzyme‐based production of not only commodity chemicals but (non‐natural) amino acids, (rare) sugars, as well as synthetic nucleotides.

Isolation, Chemical Structure, and Antagonistic Activity Against Galectin‐1 of Water‐Soluble Polysaccharides From Plantago asiatica

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 7, July 2025.
Plantago asiatica has been utilized as a dietary supplement in health foods and for medicinal purposes, enjoying a long‐standing acceptance throughout history. This study will provide new insights into the relationship between the antagonistic activity against galectin‐1 of P.asiatica polysaccharides and their applications in the fields of food and ...

Opportunistic sampling from the near‐threatened Alexandrine parakeet uncovers genomes of a novel parvovirus and beak and feather disease virus

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, Volume 103, Issue 7, Page 416-421, July 2025.
Birds are known to harbour a wide range of pathogenic viruses, including the beak and feather disease virus (BFDV; species, Circovirus parrot), which poses a significant threat to the conservation of endangered avian species. This study reports the genomic identification and characterisation of a novel psittaciform chaphamaparvovirus (PsChPV‐6) and ...

The DNA Repair Component EEPD1 Regulates Actin Polymerization

open access: yesBiology of the Cell, Volume 117, Issue 7, July 2025.
EEPD1 is a DNA repair component important for proper replication. This study demonstrates that EEPD1 is required for phosphorylation of multiple actin polymerization components, SRC, Cortactin, RAC and Profilin. Without EEPD1 cells fail to polymerize actin and lose proper nuclear shape, lamellipodia and cell migration.
