Comparative proteomics of a versatile, marine, iron‐oxidizing chemolithoautotroph

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 26, Issue 6, June 2024.
In this study, we identified proteins that were upregulated under iron‐oxidizing conditions. Notably, we highlight a periplasmic di‐heme cytochrome c that is associated with a putative redox complex spanning the inner membrane, periplasm, outer membrane, and extracellular space.

Combinatorial omics analysis reveals perturbed lysosomal homeostasis in collagen VII-deficient keratinocytes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The extracellular matrix protein collagen VII is part of the microenvironment of stratified epithelia and critical in organismal homeostasis. Mutations in the encoding gene COL7A1 lead to the skin disorder dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (DEB), are ...

The stress response of Listeria monocytogenes inoculated on fresh apples exposed to gaseous chlorine dioxide

open access: yesJournal of Food Safety, Volume 44, Issue 3, June 2024.
The present study showed a positive correlation (both clpC and hly were downregulated) between stress response and virulence on apple surfaces, which indicates that the low‐dose gaseous ClO2 may not trigger Listeria to increase virulence or enhance the stress response. Abstract Fresh apples are vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes (L.

Quantification of Type VI secretion system activity in macrophages infected with Burkholderia cenocepacia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The Gram-negative bacterial type VI Secretion System (T6SS) delivers toxins to kill orinhibit the growth of susceptible bacteria, while others target eukaryotic cells. Deletionof atsR, a negative regulator of virulence factors in B.

Complexity of rice Hsp100 gene family: lessons from rice genome sequence data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Elucidation of genome sequence provides an excellent platform to understand detailed complexity of the various gene families. Hsp100 is an important family of chaperones in diverse living systems.

Comparative analysis of root transcriptome profiles of two pairs of drought-tolerant and susceptible rice near-isogenic lines under different drought stress [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background Plant roots are important organs to uptake soil water and nutrients, perceiving and transducing of soil water deficit signals to shoot.

Thimet oligopeptidase (EC 3.4.24.15) key functions suggested by knockout mice phenotype characterization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Thimet oligopeptidase (THOP1) is thought to be involved in neuropeptide metabolism, antigen presentation, neurodegeneration, and cancer. Herein, the generation of THOP1 C57BL/6 knockout mice (THOP1(-/-)) is described showing that they are viable, have ...

Genome-wide analyses of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strains provide insights into their beneficial role on plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The innate immunity system of plants provides a basal defence barrier to most microorganisms. However, many plant pathogens have evolved to overcome this defence.

The Effect of Oxygen on Bile Resistance in Listeria Monocytogenes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Listeria monocytogenes is a Gram-positive facultative anaerobe that is the causative agent of the disease listeriosis and is responsible for nearly 20% of all food-related deaths in the United States.
