Bacillus subtilis RNase Y activity in vivo analysed by tiling microarrays. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
RNase Y is a key endoribonuclease affecting global mRNA stability in Bacillus subtilis. Its characterization provided the first evidence that endonucleolytic cleavage plays a major role in the mRNA metabolism of this organism.

Dicer prevents genome instability in response to replication stress [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Dicer, an endoribonuclease best-known for its role in microRNA biogenesis and RNA interference pathway, has been shown to play a role in the DNA damage response and repair of double-stranded DNA breaks (DSBs) in mammalian cells.

Enhanced microRNA accumulation and gene silencing efficiency through optimized precursor base pairing

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, Volume 125, Issue 1, January 2026.
Significance Statement A large‐scale mutational analysis revealed that introducing a single G–C base pair upstream of the first DCL1 cleavage site in shc precursors enhances artificial microRNA accumulation and silencing efficiency, providing an optimized amiRNA precursor for improved gene regulation and biotechnological applications.

Deinococcus radiodurans Toxin–Antitoxin MazEF-dr Mediates Cell Death in Response to DNA Damage Stress

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2017
Here we identified a functional MazEF-dr system in the exceptionally stress-resistant bacterium D. radiodurans. We showed that overexpression of the toxin MazF-dr inhibited the growth of Escherichia coli.

Expression of phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthetase genes in U87 glioma cells with ERN1 knockdown: effect of hypoxia and endoplasmic reticulum stress [PDF]

open access: yesThe Ukrainian Biochemical Journal, 2014
Activation of pentose phosphate pathway is an important factor of enhanced cell proliferation and tumor growth. Phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthetase (PRPS) is a key enzyme of this pathway and plays a central role in the synthesis of purines and ...

QM/MM Free Energy Calculations of IRE1 Reveal a Unique Protonation State of the Catalytic Lys599

open access: yesJournal of Computational Chemistry, Volume 46, Issue 31, 05 December 2025.
Different conformations at the IRE1 kinase site, imposed by different inhibitors, lead to changes in interactions between the key catalytic residues which in turn stabilize Lysine 599 in its neutral (deprotonated) form. ABSTRACT Inositol Requiring Enzyme 1 (IRE1) is a bifunctional serine/threonine kinase and endoribonuclease identified as therapeutic ...

KSRP-PMR1-exosome association determines parathyroid hormone mRNA levels and stability in transfected cells

open access: yesBMC Cell Biology, 2009
Background Parathyroid hormone (PTH) gene expression is regulated post-transcriptionally through the binding of the trans-acting proteins AU rich binding factor 1 (AUF1), Upstream of N-ras (Unr) and KH-type splicing regulatory protein (KSRP) to an AU ...

Maturation of Polycistronic mRNAs by the Endoribonuclease RNase Y and Its Associated Y-Complex in Bacillus Subtilis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Endonucleolytic cleavage within polycistronic mRNAs can lead to differential stability, and thus discordant abundance, among cotranscribed genes. RNase Y, the major endonuclease for mRNA decay in Bacillus subtilis, was originally identified for its ...

RNA G‐Quadruplex RIBOTAC‐Mediated Targeted Degradation of lncRNA TERRA

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 48, December 29, 2025.
This study introduces a selective RNA degradation strategy targeting long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) TERRA, upregulated in ALT (alternative lengthening of telomeres) cancer cells. Using ribonuclease‐targeting chimeras (RIBOTACs), RNase L is recruited to catalytically degrade TERRA, uncovering a novel approach to affect a disease associated lncRNA in ALT ...

Nitrosomonas europaea MazF Specifically Recognises the UGG Motif and Promotes Selective RNA Degradation

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Toxin-antitoxin (TA) systems are implicated in prokaryotic stress adaptation. Previously, bioinformatics analysis predicted that such systems are abundant in some slowly growing chemolithotrophs; e.g., Nitrosomonas europaea.
