Turkey Coronavirus Non-Structure Protein NSP15 – An Endoribonuclease [PDF]

open access: yesIntervirology, 2008
Turkey coronavirus (TCoV) polyprotein was predicted to be cleaved into 15 non-structural proteins (nsp2 to nsp16), but none of these nsps have been characterized. TCoV nsp15 consists of 338 residues and shares 40% sequence similarity to U-specific Nidovirales endoribonuclease (NendoU) of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus.

Unusual Cytology Features of A DICER1‐Mutated Thyroid Nodule: Raising Awareness of A Potential Diagnostic Pitfall During Fine Needle Aspiration

open access: yesCytopathology, EarlyView.
This article describes the unusual cytology features of a DICER1‐mutated thyroid nodule. Fine needle aspiration revealed predominantly cell debris/degenerated cells and rare viable follicular cells with mild cytologic atypia. Surgical resection revealed a nodule with nearly complete infarction, which is one specific feature of DICER1‐mutated thyroid ...

The FsrA‐Mediated Iron‐Sparing Response Regulates the Biosynthesis of the Epipeptide EPE in Bacillus subtilis

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, EarlyView.
Under iron‐limited conditions, FsrA base‐pairs with the intergenic region between epeX and epeE, enhancing epeE translation and triggering EPE production. Toxin‐mediated cell lysis releases nutrients, including iron, which can be taken up by surviving cells.

Inhibition of anti-viral stress granule formation by coronavirus endoribonuclease nsp15 ensures efficient virus replication.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2021
Cytoplasmic stress granules (SGs) are generally triggered by stress-induced translation arrest for storing mRNAs. Recently, it has been shown that SGs exert anti-viral functions due to their involvement in protein synthesis shut off and recruitment of ...

Functional Mapping of AGO-Associated Zika Virus-Derived Small Interfering RNAs in Neural Stem Cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2021
Viral interfering RNA (viRNA) has been identified from several viral genomes via directly deep RNA sequencing of the virus-infected cells, including zika virus (ZIKV).

The first small-molecule inhibitors of members of the ribonuclease E family [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The Escherichia coli endoribonuclease RNase E is central to the processing and degradation of all types of RNA and as such is a pleotropic regulator of gene expression.

Interplay between endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and autophagy induces mutant p53H273 degradation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The unfolded protein response (UPR) is an adaptive response to intrinsic and external stressors, and it is mainly activated by the accumulation of misfolded proteins at the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) lumen producing ER stress.

Endoribonucleases associated with RNAs in chick embryos

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1979
proteins in hemopoietic rat cells were reported to have RNase activities [ 121. Similarly, an endogeneous endoribonucleolytic activity was found in the 50 S ribosomal subunit of Eschenihia coli [ 131. This paper describes the existence of a RNA-bound cytoplasmic endoribonuclease in chick embryo.

Bacillus subtilis RNase HII Is Inefficient at Processing Guanosine Monophosphate and Damaged Ribonucleotides

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, EarlyView.
Bacillus subtilis RNase HII corrects ribonucleotide errors and mismatched ribonucleotides, but not damaged ribonucleotides. Mismatched ribonucleotides would also serve as substrates for mismatch repair while damaged ribonucleotides would be addressed through base excision repair.

Downregulation of PIK3CA via antibody-esiRNA-complexes suppresses human xenograft tumor growth. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Precision cancer therapy requires on the one hand detailed knowledge about a tumor's driver oncogenes and on the other hand an effective targeted therapy that specifically inhibits these oncogenes.
