Endoscopic ultrasound‐guided percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy
Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) is the method of choice for feeding and nutritional support in patients with a normal gastrointestinal function who require long‐term enteral nutrition. We report our experience regarding an alternative endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)‐guided PEG technique.

Towards automated visual flexible endoscope navigation [PDF]
Background:\ud The design of flexible endoscopes has not changed significantly in the past 50 years. A trend is observed towards a wider application of flexible endoscopes with an increasing role in complex intraluminal therapeutic procedures.

Scanning and Actuation Techniques for Cantilever-Based Fiber Optic Endoscopic Scanners—A Review
Endoscopes are used routinely in modern medicine for in-vivo imaging of luminal organs. Technical advances in the micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) and optical fields have enabled the further miniaturization of endoscopes, resulting in the ability ...

Tolerance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in in vitro biofilms to high level peracetic acid disinfection [PDF]
Biofilm has been suggested as a cause of disinfection failures in flexible endoscopes where no lapses in the decontamination procedure can be identified. To test this theory, the activity of peracetic acid (PAA), one of the commonly used disinfectants in

Automatic Registration of Anatomical Structures of Stereo-Endoscopic Point Clouds
In image-guided surgery, imaging systems such as (stereo-)endoscopes allow intra-operative 3D reconstructions in form of point clouds. However, endoscopes provide only a narrow field of view, resulting in a confined point cloud. In this paper, we present

Does the Reprocessing of Endoscopes Have to Take Place Immediately after Pre-Cleaning? A First Evaluation [PDF]
Background/Aims The recommendations on the time interval between pre-cleaning and reprocessing of endoscopes differ in international guidelines, with a low level of evidence.

Flexible lensless endoscope with a conformationally invariant multi-core fiber [PDF]
The lensless endoscope represents the ultimate limit in miniaturization of imaging tools: an image can be transmitted through a (multi-mode or multi-core) fiber by numerical or physical inversion of the fiber's pre-measured transmission matrix.

Efficacy of a novel channel-cleaning ball brush for endoscope reprocessing: a randomized controlled trial [PDF]
Background/Aims Endoscopic channels are difficult to clean and can cause infection transmission. We examined the effectiveness of a newly developed channel-cleaning ball brush (BB), which is sucked into the endoscopic channel and scrapes and cleans the ...

Smartphone microendoscopy for high resolution fluorescence imaging [PDF]
High resolution optical endoscopes are increasingly used in diagnosis of various medical conditions of internal organs, such as the gastrointestinal tracts, but they are too expensive for use in resource-poor settings. On the other hand, smartphones with
