We have presented the development and current status of endoscopic browlifting from its inception at UAB to the present techniques as they are now practiced by the authors. Endoscopic browlifting was based on sound preclinical research and included thorough training of all investigators in the use and application of endoscopic equipment.

Endoscopic haemostasis should be attempted as the initial approach in most cases of gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding, although cross-disciplinary collaboration is a prerequisite. For variceal bleeding, band ligation is the method of choice in the elective setting, although injection therapy still has a role in acute bleeding.

Endoscopic bariatric therapy consists of devices or procedures for primary weight loss or weight regain after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass that are placed or done endoscopically. In most cases, they result in less weight loss, but fewer complications than bariatric surgery; and more weight loss than lifestyle therapy or weight loss medications.
