A Soft Robotic Model for Simulating Heart Valve Disease and Cardiac Interventions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This paper introduces a fully synthetic fabrication methodology for a soft robotic, in‐vitro model of the left‐heart, complete with a functioning mitral valve apparatus. With a view towards patient‐specific modeling, we demonstrate physiological flow and pressure waveforms, tunable mitral valve function with clinical imaging compatibility, and its use ...

Thermally Gated Dual‐Cascade Nanozyme for Enhanced Mild‐Temperature Photothermal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A thermo‐responsive cascade nanozyme (Ru‐GOx‐PNN) synergistically enhances mild photothermal therapy by dual suppression of HSP70 through ROS‐induced lipid peroxidation and ATP depletion. This intelligent system effectively overcomes thermotolerance and amplifies apoptosis, offering a safe and precise strategy for tumor treatment.

The differences in microbial composition may be an important cause of pancreatic pseudocyst infection—an observational study based on 16SrRNA

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
BackgroundThere are no studies of pancreatic pseudocyst infections related to microorganisms. The purpose of this study was to analyze the microbiological differences between infective and non-infective pseudocysts.MethodsThis was an observational cohort

Gastric greater curvature plication combined with Nissen fundoplication in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease and obesity

open access: yesMedicina, 2016
Background and aim: Established anti-reflux procedures such as fundoplications are less efficient in obese patients. The aim of this study was to investigate clinical effectiveness of the fundoplication combined with gastric greater curvature plication ...

Real‐Time High‐Definition Hyperspectral Endoscopy via Spatial‐Temporal Low‐Frequency‐Stochastic Spectral Encoding

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A real‐time, high‐definition hyperspectral endoscopy is enabled by developing a spatial‐temporal spectral encoding approach based on low‐frequency stochastic filters combined with an encoding‐guided attention network. It provides hyperspectral image of in vivo tissue with fine superficial features, enables visualization of rapid and subtle ...

A Bezoar Causing Bowel Obstruction After Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass: A Case Report

open access: yesActa Medica Iranica, 2019
We aimed to present a patient with phytobezoar causing small bowel obstruction after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. Thirty-year-old woman with a history of prior Roux-en-Y gastric bypass due to morbid obesity three years ago presented with colicky abdominal ...

A Strain Decoupling Packaging Strategy for High‐Fidelity Ultrathin Silicon Shape Sensors for Soft Medical Robotics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Reliable soft sensors are essential for precise control in soft medical robots such as endoscopes. We developed ultrathin silicon piezoresistive sensors and their oil‐lubricated slidable packaging, which enables high‐fidelity shape sensing of silicon gauges by mechanically isolating the sensing element within a dual‐layer film.

Direct Extracellular Matrix Modulation Attenuates Intestinal Fibrosis via a Fibronectin‐Targeted Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Fibronectin regulates the extracellular matrix (ECM)–myofibroblast cycle through three key steps: (1) its secretion and assembly by myofibroblasts (inhibited by pUR4); (2) collagen deposition along its scaffold (inhibited by R1R2); and (3) integrin α5β1‐mediated mechanotransduction (inhibited by ATN161).

The Impact of Time Interval to Surgery After Neoadjuvant Chemoradiotherapy on Oncological Outcomes: A Long‐Term Follow‐Up Study on Rectal Cancer Patients

open access: yesCancer Reports
Background Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) has been shown to improve prognosis in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). However, there is still debate regarding the optimal time of surgery following nCRT.
