Corneal Endothelial Cell Density after Trabeculoplasty

Ophthalmologica, 1988
Central corneal endothelial photographs were taken with a specular microscope. The cell density was calculated with a computerized image analyzer. No difference between the treated and control eyes could be found. The laser energy level delivered in trabeculoplasty seems to be too small to induce any permanent changes in the endothelial cells.

The inheritance of corneal endothelial cell density

Ophthalmic Genetics, 2016
Although it is known that some corneal diseases and degenerations have a significant heritable background, heritability on corneal endothelial cell density (ECD) has never been clearly determined. Our aim was to determine the heritability of corneal ECD.Corneal ECD of 114 eyes (66 eyes of 33 monozygotic and 48 eyes of 24 dizygotic pairs; mean age 49.0 ±

Peripheral Endothelial Cell Density in Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty Grafts

Cornea, 2019
Purpose: To compare the variation in corneal endothelial cell density (ECD) from the center to the periphery in unpeeled and peeled donor corneas and to determine the impact of eccentric trephining on total endothelial cells in Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) grafts. Methods:

Donor cell density and endothelial keratoplasty

British Journal of Ophthalmology, 2010
We read with interest the recent article by Amato et al , ‘Pre-cut donor tissue for Descemet stripping automated keratoplasty: anterior hinged lamella on versus off’.1 We congratulate Dr Amato and his colleagues for their contribution to the rapidly changing field of endothelial keratoplasty (EK).

CORNEAL ENDOTHELIAL CELL DENSITY IN IRIDOCYCLITIS

Acta Ophthalmologica, 1979
The endothelial cells of both eyes of 60 unilateral iridocyclitic patients were photographed with a specular microscope to establish the possible effect of iridocyclitis on corneal endothelial cells.Chronic severe iridocyclitis with mutton‐fat keratic precipitates (KP) lowered the central endothelial cell count.

ENDOTHELIAL CELL DENSITY IN DONOR CORNEAS

Acta Ophthalmologica, 1980
In 68 pairs of donor corneas the endothelial cells were visualized by provoked swelling of the cell borders in isotonic saline. In corneas from donors below 50 years of age numerical cell density was correlated to age. This was not the case in corneas from older donors. The cell densities in paired corneas were correlated.

Endothelial cells injured by oxidized low density lipoprotein

American Journal of Hematology, 1995
AbstractCultured endothelial cells from bovine aorta were exposed to oxidized low density lipoprotein and examined by electron microscopy. The endothelial cells contracted slightly and the intercellular junctions became unclear. Some osmiophilic material increased in the cytoplasm.

Endothelial Cell Density after Posterior Chamber Lens Implantation

Ophthalmology, 1980
Endothelial cell loss was determined by specular microscopy in 50 patients after extracapsular cataract extraction and posterior chamber lens implantation. An age-matched group of unoperated fellow eyes and normal phakic eyes comprised the control group.

INDIRECT EVALUATION OF CORNEAL ENDOTHELIAL CELL DENSITY

Acta Ophthalmologica, 1978
In 16 whole flat corneal mounts stained by alizarine red and trypane blue it was investigated whether estimates of central numerical endothelial cell density could be based on peripheral cell density, on age or on morphological cell characteristics. With certain precautions estimates of central cell density could be based on peripheral cell density, on

Reliability of Corneal Thickness and Endothelial Cell Density Measures

Journal of Refractive Surgery, 2003
ABSTRACT PURPOSE: We evaluated the reliability and agreement between the Orbscan, an ultrasonic pachymeter (Humphrey 855), and the Konan SP 9000-LC in terms of central corneal thickness. The Konan was also used to study the reliability and agreement between endothelial cell density measures. METHODS: Twenty-five normal subjects were
