The Endothelium and Hemodialysis [PDF]
The endothelium is a functional barrier composed of a single layer of endothelial cells between the vessel wall and circulating blood. The human vascular bed has a combined surface area of 1000 m2 and contains 1013 endothelial cells. The endothelium is the largest endocrine organ, with also important paracrine and autocrine functions (Perry & Pearson ...

Osmotic pressure‐induced calcium response states
Acute hypotonic stress triggers distinct calcium response patterns in HEK293T cells. These signals originate from the endoplasmic reticulum via RyR2 and propagate to neighboring cells through gap junctions. This result highlights a novel calcium‐dependent mechanism underlying the intracellular and intercellular response to osmotic pressure.

Subcutaneous implantation of murine Panc02 pancreatic cancer cells depleted of sST2, a soluble decoy receptor for the proinflammatory interleukin‐33 (IL‐33), leads to a decreased number of GLUT4‐positive cancer‐associated adipocytes, reduced levels of the anti‐inflammatory molecule adiponectin, increased phosphorylation of IκBα, elevated Cxcl3 ...

Effect of cell density on thrombin binding to a specific site on bovine vascular endothelial cells. [PDF]
We studied thrombin binding to proliferating and confluent endothelial cells derived from bovine vascular endothelium. [125]thrombin was incubated with nonconfluent or confluent endothelial cells and both the total amount bound and the amount linked in a

Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) play different roles in NSCLC progression and metastasis. Their heterogeneous origins and phenotypes shape the tumor microenvironment and influence metastatic spread. This review highlights NSCLC CAF subtypes, their potential cellular sources, and their differential distribution across primary tumors and distant ...

Background Gender-specific differences in cardiovascular risk are well known, and current evidence supports an existing role of endothelium in these differences. The purpose of this study was to assess non invasively coronary endothelial function in male
