Effects of Induced Endotoxaemia on Global Cardiovascular, Oxygenation and Haematologic Variables and the Integrity of the Endothelial Glycocalyx in the Horse

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 4, July 2025.
The current study demonstrated characteristic and well‐documented early hyperdynamic changes in cardiovascular parameters accompanied by concurrent hypotension, increased pulse pressure variation, leucopenia, and hyperlactatemia consistent with acute endotoxaemia.

Gingival Temperature Variations in Dogs: Assessing Healthy and Inflamed Gingiva Using Thermal Imaging Before and During Anaesthesia

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 4, July 2025.
A temperature difference was observed between healthy and inflamed gingiva in the alveolar mucosa, reflecting the influence of inflammation on tissue temperature. Gingival temperature changes are independent of systemic body temperature and anaesthesia affects gingival temperature in dogs.

Analgesic Effect of Cocaine and Lidocaine/Xylometazoline in Healthy Volunteers Undergoing Awake Nasal Intubation: A Randomized Controlled Crossover Trial

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 69, Issue 6, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Several drugs may be used to minimize pain during nasal intubation in awake patients. We hypothesized that the analgesic effect of cocaine would be at least as good (non‐inferior) as that of lidocaine with xylometazoline rated as maximum pain felt during awake nasal intubation of healthy volunteers.

Endotracheal Tube Sizes During Surgical Procedures in Adult Patients. A Systematic Review With Meta‐Analyses and Trial Sequential Analyses

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 69, Issue 6, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Despite the long‐standing practice of endotracheal intubation, limited attention has been given to perioperative complications and benefits of choosing different sizes of endotracheal tubes. This review examines the existing literature to evaluate the potential benefits and harms of selecting different tube sizes for adult surgical ...
