Endovascular intervention in thoracic surgery

Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals, 2014
There are few reports regarding endovascular treatment in thoracic surgical patients. Here, we describe the cases of 2 patients who received adjuvant endovascular therapy prior to surgery. One presented with recurrent chest infection. Computed tomography revealed systemic blood supply to an intralobar sequestration.

Endovascular Interventions for Venous Disease

Techniques in Vascular and Interventional Radiology, 2018
Venous thromboembolism, including deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, occur in up to 900,000 people per year in the United States. Current first-line therapy consists of systemic anticoagulation with a goal to prevent additional thrombus formation.

Endovascular interventional principles

2002
The publication of the large series of Orake, Parkinson, Pertuiset and others in the late 70s and early 80s made it clear that despite the introduction of microsurgery, morbidity and mortality associated with surgical excision of cerebral AVMs was still unacceptably high with approximately 15% each [13,37,39]. Endovascular embolization appeared to be a

Transradial versus tibiopedal access approach for endovascular intervention of superficial femoral artery chronic total occlusion

Catheterization and cardiovascular interventions, 2018
Improved equipment and techniques have resulted in transition from surgical bypass to endovascular intervention to treat superficial femoral artery (SFA) chronic total occlusions (CTO).

Anesthesia for Endovascular Neurosurgery and Interventional Neuroradiology

Anesthesiology Clinics, 2007
This review outlines the roles of anesthesiologists in the management of patients undergoing invasive endovascular procedures to treat vascular diseases, primarily of the central nervous system. This practice usually is termed interventional neuroradiology or endovascular neurosurgery.

Midterm Outcomes After Endovascular Intervention for Occluded vs Stenosed External Iliac Arteries

Journal of Endovascular Therapy, 2018
Purpose: To evaluate the association between a chronic total occlusion (CTO) and long-term outcomes among patients undergoing endovascular intervention to the external iliac artery (EIA).

Carotid‐cavernous fistula after endovascular intervention for chronic carotid artery total occlusion

Catheterization and cardiovascular interventions, 2018
In addition to head trauma and cranial surgery, endovascular intervention for chronic carotid artery occlusion (CAO) may also result in carotid‐cavernous fistula (CCF).

A Comparison of Outcomes After Lower Extremity Bypass and Repeat Endovascular Intervention Following Failed Previous Endovascular Intervention for Critical Limb Ischemia

Angiology, 2018
The optimal approach for repeat revascularization after failed endovascular intervention for critical limb ischemia (CLI) is unclear. This study compared major adverse limb events (MALEs) and major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) between lower extremity ...

Endovascular control of pelvic hemorrhage: Concomitant use of resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta and endovascular intervention

Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery, 2018
P elvic ring fractures can be associated with major hemorrhage, with mortality rates approaching 33%. Infrarenal (Zone 3) resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) is an adjunct designed to control pelvic inflow while sustaining ...

Femoropopliteal Endovascular Interventions

2012
The treatment of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) has witnessed a remarkable evolution in the past two decades. While endovascular therapy has become well established as a primary treatment modality in aortoiliac occlusive disease, transcatheter treatment of infrainguinal occlusive disease remains controversial.
