Single-File Diffusion of Externally Driven Particles
We study 1-D diffusion of $N$ hard-core interacting Brownian particles driven by the space- and time-dependent external force. We give the exact solution of the $N$-particle Smoluchowski diffusion equation.

Energetics of Forced Thermal Ratchet [PDF]
Molecular motors are known to have the high efficiency of energy transformation in the presence of thermal fluctuation. Motivated by the surprising fact, recent studies of thermal ratchet models are showing how and when work should be extracted from ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Transformation of dynamical fluctuation into coherent energy
Studies of noise-induced motions are showing that coherent energy can be extracted from some kinds of noise in a periodic ratchet. Recently, energetics of Langevin dynamics is formulated by Sekimoto [J.Phys.Soc.Jpn, 66 1234 (1997)], which can be ...

This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Methods of intelligent protection from asymmetrical conditions in electric networks [PDF]
Possible cases of non-fulfilment of the requirements of the necessary sensitivity and the selectivity of the existing protection against incomplete-phase and asymmetric modes in the electrical network under conditions of uncertainty of the initial data ...

Concerted [4 + 2] and Stepwise (2 + 2) Cycloadditions of Tetrafluoroethylene with Butadiene: DFT and DLPNO-UCCSD(T) Explorations. [PDF]
Tetrafluoroethylene and butadiene form the 2 + 2 cycloadduct under kinetic control, but the Diels-Alder cycloadduct is formed under thermodynamic control. Borden and Getty showed that the preference for 2 + 2 cycloaddition is due to the necessity for syn-

Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

The Carnot Cycle for Small Systems: Irreversibility and the Cost of Operations
We employ the recently developed framework of the energetics of stochastic processes (called `stochastic energetics'), to re-analyze the Carnot cycle in detail, taking account of fluctuations, without taking the thermodynamic limit.
