Compendium of physical activities: classification of energy costs of human physical activities.

open access: yesMedicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, 1993
A coding scheme is presented for classifying physical activity by rate of energy expenditure, i.e., by intensity. Energy cost was established by a review of published and unpublished data.

Escape from TGF‐β‐induced senescence promotes aggressive hallmarks in epithelial hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

The role of built environment energy efficiency in a sustainable UK energy economy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Energy efficiency in the built environment can make significant contributions to a sustainable energy economy. In order to achieve this, greater public awareness of the importance of energy efficiency is required.

Spatiotemporal energy models for the perception of motion.

open access: yesJournal of the Optical Society of America. A, Optics and image science, 1985
A motion sequence may be represented as a single pattern in x-y-t space; a velocity of motion corresponds to a three-dimensional orientation in this space.

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

Energy efficient wireless sensor network communications based on computational intelligent data fusion for environmental monitoring [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The study presents a novel computational intelligence algorithm designed to optimise energy consumption in an environmental monitoring process: specifically, water level measurements in flooded areas.
