Unbounded quantum backflow in two dimensions
Quantum backflow refers to the counterintuitive fact that the probability can flow in the direction opposite to the momentum of a quantum particle. This phenomenon has been seen to be small and fragile for one-dimensional systems, in which the maximal ...

Generation and focusing of a second-order vector beam using a subwavelength optical element
This article proposes a new type of subwavelength axicons for creating and focusing second-order vector cylindrical beams. It is also shown that using the proposed subwavelength axicons, it is possible to create focal spots with an energy backflow.

Non-Markovian effect on quantum Otto engine: Role of system-reservoir interaction
We study a limit cycle of a quantum Otto engine whose every cycle consists of two finite-time quantum isochoric (heating or cooling) processes and two quantum adiabatic work-extracting processes. Considering a two-level system as a working substance that

Liquid metal direct writing is advanced from a technological and fundamental point. Utilizing a kinematic bed, printing on large surfaces with irregularities is enabled. Furthermore, a pressure‐driven flow during printing is discovered that affects the thickness of traces.

Irreversible work and Maxwell demon in terms of quantum thermodynamic force
The second law of classical equilibrium thermodynamics, based on the positivity of entropy production, asserts that any process occurs only in a direction that some information may be lost (flow out of the system) due to the irreversibility inside the ...

Ion energy diagnostics in the plume of an SPT-100 from thrust axis to backflow region [PDF]
Of primary concern with the integration of Hall thrusters on conventional satellite designs is the possible damaging effect of high-energy exhaust ions impinging upon spacecraft surfaces. This paper reports on measurements of plasma ion energy distributions within the plume of an SPT-100 Hall thruster using a custom-designed molecular beam mass ...

Transverse intensity at the tight focus of a second-order cylindrical vector beam
In this paper, an effect of a reverse energy flow at the focus of a second-order cylindrical vector beam which passed through amplitude zone plate was investigated with a scanning near-field optical microscope.

We introduce an additively manufactured bioreactor with a perfusion flow system and integrated temperature and pH sensors for skeletal muscle tissue biofabrication. The bioreactor's performance was evaluated by assessing the viability, spreading of the myoblast cells in a printed scaffold, and contraction of the isolated murine musculi interossei ...
