Numerical Study on the Design of an Anti-Backflow Injector for Combustion Chambers

open access: yes
The backflow of high-temperature products in an engine’s combustion chamber is a key issue which can significantly reduce combustion efficiency. This is particularly problematic for hypergolic propellants, as the high-temperature products may still

Backflow and pairing wave function for quantum Monte Carlo methods

open access: yes, 2019
Quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) methods are a class of stochastic techniques that can be used to compute the properties of electronic systems accurately from first principles. This thesis is mainly concerned with the development of trial wave functions for QMC.

3D Knitted Interfacial Solar Steam Generator for High‐Efficiency and Long‐Term Seawater Desalination

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
The hydrophobic bottom provides buoyancy to keep the evaporator floating, and directional vertical spacer yarn supplies sufficient water. The knitted photothermal layer efficiently converts solar energy via multiple light reflections. The Marangoni effect induced by edge yarn accelerates the backflow of salt ions, preventing salt accumulation in the ...

P5.21 EARLY IABP INFLATION SUPPRESSES LEFT VENTRICULAR FUNCTION AS INDICATED BY WAVE INTENSITY ANALYSIS

open access: yesArtery Research, 2013
Background: Timing errors during Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) support can be detrimental when interfering with cardiac function. In vivo hemodynamics and left ventricular (LV) function were monitored during premature IAB inflation, and the associated

Investigation of stresses and deformation forces in energy-intensive pressing processes with backflow of metal

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Although a large number of studies have been carried out to optimize the processes of pressing metals and alloys, the recommendations for industrial use are ambiguous and cannot be extended to the entire product range. To a special extent, this applies to hollow products such as cups with a flange for the manufacture of which, the most rational and ...

Unsteady Flow Behavior and Radial Force Analysis of a Side Channel Pump Under Different Blade Tip Cutting Angles Using Computational Fluid Dynamics

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
The Radial Force (RF) distribution under different cutting angles is presented in Figure 1. Generally, the distribution of RF displays divergence across different flow conditions. The pattern of force distribution reveals a total of 24 peaks, which corresponds to the number of blades of the impeller of the SCP.

Study of energy backflow in unidirectional monochromatic and space-time waves

open access: yes
Backflow, or retropropagation, is a counterintuitive phenomenon whereby for a forward-propagating wave the energy locally propagates backward. In the context of backflow, physically most interesting are the so-called unidirectional waves, which contain only forward propagating plane wave constituents.

Sizing and concentration analysis of cfDNA using Biabooster technology: Results from a prospective plasma‐based collection of 77 patients with locally advanced unresectable esophageal cancer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
What's New? This study introduces a novel approach for detecting locally advanced esophageal carcinoma using cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) analysis through a highly sensitive fragmentome assay. Unlike traditional sequencing‐based methods that are limited by the absence of specific mutations in esophageal tumors, our method offers an alternative by quantifying ...
