Energy determination for electron beam calibration

Presents the results of independent energy determinations, one by ion-chamber measurements in a water phantom, one by film analysis in a lucite phantom, and one by the ion-chamber response ratio described by the authors. The energy differences are insignificant with regard to the corresponding mass stopping power ratios needed for calibration.

Determination of effective energies in CT calibration

The effective energy of a polychromatic beam for a Computed Tomography (CT) scanner can be measured directly only with difficulty. However, a linear relationship exists between the measured CT numbers and corresponding attenuation coefficients of known materials at the effective energy of the x-ray beam.
