Enhancing Energy-Awareness in Deep Learning through Fine-Grained Energy Measurement [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
With the increasing usage, scale, and complexity of Deep Learning (DL) models, their rapidly growing energy consumption has become a critical concern. Promoting green development and energy awareness at different granularities is the need of the hour to limit carbon emissions of DL systems.

Using infrared thermography for monitoring thermal efficiency of buildings - case studies from Nottingham Trent University [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Global warming and the continuous increase of energy cost are driving the need for reducing energy consumption. Buildings are responsible for approximately 50% of the UK energy consumption.

Combined spatially resolved metabolomics and spatial transcriptomics reveal the mechanism of RACK1‐mediated fatty acid synthesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors analyzed the spatial distributions of gene and metabolite profiles in cervical cancer through spatial transcriptomic and spatially resolved metabolomic techniques. Pivotal genes and metabolites within these cases were then identified and validated.

Performance analysis of control allocation using data‐driven integral quadratic constraints

open access: yesAdvanced Control for Applications, Volume 4, Issue 4, December 2022., 2022
Abstract A new method is presented for evaluating the performance of a nonlinear control allocation system within a linear control loop. To that end, a worst‐case gain analysis problem is formulated that can be readily solved by means of well‐established methods from robustness analysis using integral quadratic constraints (IQCs).

Reshaping consumption habits by exploiting energy-related micro-moment recommendations: A case study [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The environmental change and its effects, caused by human influences and natural ecological processes over the last decade, prove that it is now more prudent than ever to transition to more sustainable models of energy consumption behaviors. User energy consumption is inductively derived from the time-to-time standards of living that shape the user's ...

Integrative systems‐level analysis reveals a contextual crosstalk between hypoxia and global metabolism in human breast tumors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast tumor samples scored for metabolic deregulation (M1 to M3) were given a hypoxia score (HS). The highest HS occurred in patients with strongest metabolic deregulation (M3), supporting tumor aggressiveness. HS correlated with the highest number of metabolic pathways in M1. This suggests hypoxia to be an early event in metabolic deregulation.

Digital Light Processing of 2D Lattice Composites for Tunable Self‐Sensing and Mechanical Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView., 2023
The study presents the mechanical and in situ sensing performance of digital light processing‐enabled 2D lattice nanocomposites under monotonic tensile and repeated cyclic loading, and provides guidelines for the design of architectures suitable for strain sensors and smart lightweight structures.

Targeted metabolomics reveals novel diagnostic biomarkers for colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed targeted metabolomic profiling to identify 302 distinct metabolites present in platelet‐rich plasma (PRP), revealing aberrant metabolic profiles amongst individuals diagnosed with colorectal cancer (CRC). Compared to carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and cancer antigen 19‐9 (CA199), our metabolite panel showed improved sensitivity ...
