ELECTROMAGNETIC ENERGY DENSITY AND FLUX

Canadian Journal of Physics, 1952
Although Poynting's theorem receives general acceptance in the treatment of electromagnetic energy, an alternative theorem, Macdonald's, has equal claim to validity at the present state of our knowledge. In a comparison of many results derived from the two, Macdonald's theorem exhibits sufficient superiority to warrant its consideration more generally

Testing the kinetic energy functional: Kinetic energy density as a density functional

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2003
A new method for defining an energy density for the noninteracting kinetic energy of density functional theory is given. The resulting energy density is a density functional determined completely by the kinetic energy functional itself. Although this method is not constructive, it allows for a direct comparison between exact and approximate functionals

On kinetic energy densities

Journal of Molecular Structure: THEOCHEM, 1992
Abstract The concept of kinetic energy densities has been discussed, with particular emphasis on the expression that may be derived from the Weyl-Wigner phase-space representation of quantum mechanics. The actual form of this expression, and of three other expressions for the kinetic energy density, has been calculated and plotted for the atoms ...

Energy Density and Power Density of Electrical Energy Storage Devices

1999
The relation between power and energy requirements in the operation of “prime movers” has long been an important topic in the engine industry, starting with the period of steam and improvements in the efficiency of the Newcomen atmospheric steam engine by Watt through his separate condenser, and the invention of indicator diagrams for recording ...

Density of Energy in the Universe

Physical Review, 1933
The density of radiant energy given off by stars and luminous matter in the universe is computed and is found to be 6.91\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}${10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$ erg/sq. cm/sec. as received by the earth. In interstellar space, ${10}^{6}$ light years from the nearest spiral nebula, the energy density will be between 2\ifmmode\times\else\
