The subject of this work is the development of a corrosion‐protective coating on steel sheets for form hardening. Rapid heating in an extreme high vacuum (XHV)‐adequate atmosphere is a useful method to prevent oxidation during alloying of 22MnB5 and aluminum to obtain a metallurgical bonding.

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Performance Analysis of Abradable Coating Systems for Aircraft Gas Turbines
Three CoNiCrAlY/YSZ/MgAl2O4 abradable liner configurations on a nickel‐superalloy are evaluated by thermal‐gradient cycling and incursion tests. Laser ablation of the bondcoat and/or Y2O3‐stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) intermediate layer increases mechanical interlocking and bonding for thick topcoats.

Theoretical Conformational Study of Six-Membered Cyclic Allyl Epoxides
Accurate “ab initio” calculations (MP2 method) were performed to outline the conformational profile of a number of six-membered cyclic allyl epoxides differing either in the nature of the cycle fragment (Y) bound to the unsaturation, or in the ...

: Several currently used models for assessing the extent of cyclic conjugation in benzenoid hydrocarbons, all based on Kekulé-type structural formulas, predict that there is no cyclic conjugation in the central, “empty”, ring of perylene and its ...

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Comparative Study of Aromaticity in Tetraoxa[8]circulenes
A detailed analysis of the local aromaticity in tetraoxa[8]circulene and its benzo-annelated derivates was performed by means of the energy effect (ef), multicenter delocalization indices (MCI), harmonic oscillator model of aromaticity (HOMA) index ...
