Sports Nutrition - Current Recommendations
Athletes expend greater amounts of energy as a result of their training. However, these amounts vary during the competition year and are influenced by such factors as the training period and intensity.Measuring energy expenditure is a complex process ...

The dynamics of human body weight change [PDF]
An imbalance between energy intake and energy expenditure will lead to a change in body weight (mass) and body composition (fat and lean masses). A quantitative understanding of the processes involved, which currently remains lacking, will be useful in determining the etiology and treatment of obesity and other conditions resulting from prolonged ...

Regulating Protein Immobilization During Cell‐Free Protein Synthesis in Hyaluronan Microgels
Bifunctional microgels carrying a linear DNA template and Ni2+‐activated NTA moieties are used as platform for cell‐free protein synthesis and in situ protein immobilization. By varying the concentration of NTA moieties in the microgels, the amount of GFP‐His immobilized inside the microgel and released to the microgel environment can be regulated ...

Neural Control of Energy Expenditure [PDF]
The continuous rise in obesity is a major concern for future healthcare management. Many strategies to control body weight focus on a permanent modification of food intake with limited success in the long term. Metabolism or energy expenditure is the other side of the coin for the regulation of body weight, and strategies to enhance energy expenditure ...

Toward Design Principles for Biomolecular Condensates for Metabolic Pathways
Biomolecular condensates are membrane‐less compartments found through‐out nature which can serve as reaction crucibles for biochemical processes. This review explores the design strategies underlying how condensates can be used in biotechnology to enhance multistep enzyme cascades including enhancement by mass action and substrate channeling, and ...

Increasing Opportunistic Gain in Small Cells Through Energy-Aware User Cooperation [PDF]
To meet the increasing demand for wireless capacity, future networks are likely to consist of dense layouts of small cells. The number of users in each cell is thus reduced which results in diminished gains from opportunistic scheduling, particularly under dynamic traffic loads.

AISI 304L stainless steel powder is mixed with silicon nitride (Si3N4) powder and processed by PBF‐LB/M, allowing partial retention of Si3N4. The numerical approach effectively predicts the Si3N4 powder homogeneity and N content distribution on the powder bed. Recent studies have focused on the alloying of nitrogen (N) in high‐alloy stainless steels by

On Energy Expenditure per Unit of the Amount of Information [PDF]
It is shown that for an equilibrium state of time-symmetric system of non-relativistic strings the energy per unit of information transfer (storage, processing) obeys the Bekenstein conjecture. The result is based on a theorem due to A.Kholevo relating the physical entropy and the amount of information.
