Removing Homocoupling Defects in Alkoxy/Alkyl‐PBTTT Enhances Polymer:Fullerene Co‐Crystal Formation and Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
PBTTT‐OR‐R, a C14‐alkoxy/alkyl‐PBTTT polymer derivative, is of substantial interest for optoelectronics due to its specific fullerene intercalation behavior and enhanced charge‐transfer absorption. Comparing this polymer with (S) and without (O) homocoupling defects reveals that PBTTT‐OR‐R(O) forms stable co‐crystals with PC61BM, while PBTTT‐OR‐R(S ...

Glucagon increases energy expenditure independently of brown adipose tissue activation in humans

open access: yesDiabetes, obesity and metabolism, 2015
To investigate, for a given energy expenditure (EE) rise, the differential effects of glucagon infusion and cold exposure on brown adipose tissue (BAT) activation in humans.

Facile Synthesis of CuxS Electrocatalysts for CO2 Conversion into Formate and Study of Relations Between Cu and S with the Selectivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Copper sulfide based electrocatalysts for CO2 conversion are selective for production of formate as major product. Transformations under electrochemical conditions result in significant sulfur loss, and this study examines the nature of how persistent, residual sulfur (observed as surface SO42– species and S dissolved in the electrolyte) can sustain ...

Activities contributing to energy expenditure among Guatemalan adults

open access: yesInternational Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity, 2007
Background Guatemala has experienced a substantial increase in overweight and obesity in recent years, yet physical activity patterns and consequent energy expenditure are largely unexplored in this population.

Prediction of physical workload in reduced gravity environments [PDF]

open access: yes
The background, development, and application of a methodology to predict human energy expenditure and physical workload in low gravity environments, such as a Lunar or Martian base, is described.

Changes in energy expenditure resulting from altered body weight.

open access: yesNew England Journal of Medicine, 1995
BACKGROUND No current treatment for obesity reliably sustains weight loss, perhaps because compensatory metabolic processes resist the maintenance of the altered body weight.

In‐Situ Growth of 2D MOFs as a Molecular Sieving Layer on SnS2 Nanoflakes for Realizing Ultraselective H2S Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
The ultraselective H2S detection of the ZIF‐L/SnS2 heterostructure is demonstrated. The introduction of 2‐dimensional (2D) breathable ZIF‐L results in a substantial increase in H2S selectivity attributable to the molecular sieving effect, which impedes the permeation of gases with large kinetic diameters and high polarity.
