Cellular evolution as the flow of energy

Progress in Biophysics and Molecular Biology, 2021
In contrast to Darwinian evolution, which is founded on the material competition between organisms, cellular epigenetic evolution focuses on cell-cell communication of data from one stage of life to another-developmentally, phylogenetically, as injury-repair - ultimately governed by the First Principles of Physiology. By merging ontogeny and phylogeny,

The Flow of Energy

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1915
A new graphical method of representing the flow of energy is described and pictures are drawn showing the functions of generators, motors, transformers, transmission lines and other parts of an electric distributing system in terms of the flow of energy through them.

Energy Flow in Electric Systems- the Vi Energy-Flow Postulate

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1942
The conditions which a valid postulated electric-energy flow must satisfy are given and are stated to be insufficient for its unique determination. The commonly used Vi energy-flow postulate is shown by examples to be not generally valid, but by adding a simple term it can be made equally valid with other valid energy-flow postulates.

The energy flow equation

Mathematics and Computers in Simulation, 1984
An equation, which describes the flow of energy in energy conservative semi- and full discretizations, of hyperbolic equations is derived. While the form of this equation for semi-discretizations verifies known principles of group velocity and wave propagation in periodic structures, its form and strict applicability to discrete-space-discrete-time ...

Energy Flow in Proteins

Annual Review of Physical Chemistry, 2008
Energy flows anisotropically through the residues and vibrational states of globular proteins. A variety of experimental and computational studies have identified energy transport channels traversing many residues, in some cases connecting functional regions, potentially important in allostery, and in other cases having no apparent function.

Energy Flows and Water Flows: Types of Energy

2018
The chapter provides a broad view of the energy industry based on energy flows and energy types (with examples) relevant to enterprises. Energy flows are presented with the aid of Sankey diagrams, a visual approach which provides an excellent way to understand where energy comes from, how it interacts within the system, and where different proportions ...

Energy Flow in Brain

1965
Publisher Summary In this chapter, experiments related to nervous tissue activity and ATP utilization are presented and the changes in ATP utilization under a variety of experimental conditions are discussed. From the experiment, the survival of rats in anoxia was found to decrease with increasing neonatal maturation and to be closely related to the ...

Energy and Energy Flow in the Electromagnetic Field

Journal of Applied Physics, 1942
A new method for deriving the usual Poynting vector is given. This method also yields other equally valid energy flow vectors with the same or other equally valid postulated electromagnetic energy densities. Examples of such alternative Poynting vectors with their associated energy densities are given.

Flow of Energy

2018
As previously mentioned, the goal of an anthropogenic flow of material is to meet specific needs of human beings. The transformation of material from natural resource into a product with specific service functions must undergo changes from multiple aspects, such as quantity, form, and space.
