The Influence of Co-Firing Coal with Biomass Syngas on the Thermodynamic Parameters of a Boiler

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Biomass syngas can be considered as a supplementary fuel to partially substitute coal, which is beneficial to CO2 emission reduction. For the case study, the influences of co-firing typical biomass syngas (gasification from palm, straw, and wood) with ...

The rectified n-harmonic map flow with applications to homotopy classes

open access: yes, 2017
We introduce a rectified $n$-harmonic map flow from an n-dimensional closed Riemannian manifold to another closed Riemannian manifold. We prove existence of a global solution, which is regular except for a finite number of points, of the rectified n ...

Azimuthal asymmetry in transverse energy flow in nuclear collisions at high energies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The azimuthal pattern of transverse energy flow in nuclear collisions at RHIC and LHC energies is considered. We show that the probability distribution of the event-by-event azimuthal disbalance in transverse energy flow is essentially sensitive to the ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

BiOCl Atomic Layers with Electrons Enriched Active Sites Exposed for Efficient Photocatalytic CO2 Overall Splitting

open access: yesNano-Micro Letters
Highlights BiOCl atomic layers (BOCNSs-i) were prepared by exfoliating hydrothermally synthesized BiOCl (BOCNSs) via ultrasonication in isopropanol for efficient photocatalytic CO2 overall splitting to CO and O2.

Functionalized nanostructures for enhanced photocatalytic performance under solar light

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2014
Photocatalytic hydrogen production from water has been considered to be one of the most promising solar-to-hydrogen conversion technologies. In the last decade, various functionalized nanostructures were designed to address the primary requirements for ...

How to Construct a Combined S-CO2 Cycle for Coal Fired Power Plant?

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
It is difficult to recover the residual heat from flue gas when supercritical carbon dioxide (S-CO2) cycle is used for a coal fired power plant, due to the higher CO2 temperature in tail flue and the limited air temperature in air preheater. The combined

Linear stability, transient energy growth and the role of viscosity stratification in compressible plane Couette flow

open access: yes, 2008
Linear stability and the non-modal transient energy growth in compressible plane Couette flow are investigated for two prototype mean flows: (a) the {\it uniform shear} flow with constant viscosity, and (b) the {\it non-uniform shear} flow with {\it ...

Prompt emission spectra from the photosphere of a GRB [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
I explore the observational appearance of the photosphere of an ultrarelativistic flow with internal dissipation of energy (``dissipative'' GRB models).
