Macroscopic detection of negative-energy fluxes
Physical Review D, 1992We study the response of an array of quantum-mechanical spin-1/2 particles in a classical background magnetic field to quantum fluctuations of the electromagnetic field. We show that there is a depolarization of the spins due to these fluctuations in that the magnetic moment of the system is reduced by the vacuum fluctuations. We further show that this

Energy Flux Manipulation in Upconversion Nanosystems
Accounts of Chemical Research, 2018Lanthanide-doped upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) exhibit unique optical characteristics, including a large anti-Stokes shift, a long luminescence lifetime, sharp emission bands, and high photostability. These virtues make UCNPs highly useful in many emerging applications such as biolabeling, security, multicolor displays, and optogenetics.

As we already know, the total energy in the universe is conserved. Let us now focus our attention on the transfer of energy as heat (thermal energy) across system boundaries, with the clarity that the thermal energy, a form of energy, is not conserved.

Energy and energy flux in planetary waves
Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1972Abstract The propagation of planetary waves on a sphere and on a β plane has been extensively studied by Longuet-Higgins (1964a, 1965), in connexion with problems concerning the long period oscillations of the atmosphere and oceans. However, the concepts of energy and its propagation in planetary waves is not well understood, and in ...

Magnetic field in the air gap is obtained from electrical currents in stator and rotor windings. Another source of the air gap field can be permanent magnets that may be placed within magnetic circuits of either stator or rotor. The stator and rotor fields in the air gap are calculated in the previous chapter.

Energy and Energy Flux in Rossby Waves
2003In discussing the energy and its flux for Rossby waves, we encounter the problem that the natural definition of the energy flux at the lowest order pu. is horizontally non-divergent and therefore has no effect on the wave energy. To discuss the real energy flux, one has to include the divergent, non-geostrophic O(e) part of the velocity field as well ...

GENERALIZATIONS OF THE ENERGY-FLUX PARABOLIC EQUATION
Journal of Computational Acoustics, 2005Parabolic equations written in terms of energy flux are inherently immune to the problem of energy conservation at vertical interfaces. Mikhin [J. Comp. Acoust. 9 (2001) 183–203] achieved exact reciprocity and energy conservation in a finite-difference PE model following this approach. However, his model used the implicit Crank–Nicolson scheme in range

About seven years ago Labs and Neckel (1968) prepared a review of the then current status of the solar energy flux. The most reliable solar radiation data were given in an appendix in the form of extensive tables. Some minor corrections (Labs and Neckel, 1970) transform these data into the “International Practical Temperature Scale of 1968” (IPTS 68 ...
