3D numerical investigation of energy transfer and loss of cavitation flow in perforated plates

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2020
Perforated plates are prevalently used in various integrated energy systems for flow restriction, vibration, and noise reduction. The characteristics of flow energy transfer and loss in perforated plates have a significant impact on its piping systems ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Partonic Energy Loss and the Drell-Yan Process

open access: yes, 2003
We examine the current status of the extraction of the rate of partonic energy loss in nuclei from A dependent data. The advantages and difficulties of using the Drell-Yan process to measure the energy loss of a parton traversing a cold nuclear medium ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Parton Energy Loss Without Transverse Momentum Broadening

open access: yes, 2008
The JEWEL 1.0 Monte Carlo simulates jet evolution in a medium with a microscopic description of splitting and scattering processes. In the framework of this model we investigate the transverse momentum broadening due to medium effects in different ...

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

The Effect of Submerged Vanes on Improving Hydraulic Jump Characteristics and Investigating the Role of Attack Angle [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم آب و خاک
One of the ways to improve the characteristics of the hydraulic jump in the stilling basin is to use natural and artificial roughness. Recently, due to the advantages of immersed plates compared to other non-continuous artificial roughness, such as the ...

Ion-matter interaction: An overview of available formulations/codes

open access: yesRadiation Protection and Environment
Ion-matter interaction has significant effects on electronic, structural, thermal, mechanical, and other properties of the target materials. In this process of interaction, the accurate knowledge of the parameters such as range, energy loss, straggling ...

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...
