Pathways to Clean Energy Transition in Indonesia’s Electricity Sector with Open-Source Energy Modelling System Modelling (OSeMOSYS)

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Responding to the Paris Agreement and climate change mitigation, Indonesia aims to reach net zero by 2060 or sooner. Due to Indonesia’s dependence on coal and growing consumption, alternative sources of clean energy are imperative for meeting its rising ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Effects of ethanol addition to diesel–biodiesel blends on the CI engine characteristics

open access: yesScience and Technology for Energy Transition
This research work investigates the effects of adding ethanol to biodiesel–diesel blends on the performance and emissions of a single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled compression-ignition engine.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Energy, Environmental, and Economic Evaluation of a Novel Building Integrated Green System: Insights from Residents and Social Perspectives [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Machinery
The buildings and the agri-food sectors nearly consume 40% and 21% of the world's total energy, respectively. This research aims to combine these two significant energy-consuming sectors to decrease the total society’s energy consumption.

NULL ENERGY CONDITION AND DARK ENERGY MODELS [PDF]

open access: yesModern Physics Letters A, 2008
Null Energy Condition (NEC) requires the equation of state (EoS) of the universe wu satisfy wu ≥ -1, which implies, for instance in a universe with matter and dark energy dominating wu = w m Ω m + w de Ω de = w de Ω de ≥ -1. In this paper we study constraints on the dark energy models from the requirement of the NEC.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
