Experimental Study on Factors Affecting the Performance of Foamy Oil Recovery

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
The flow characteristics of dissolved gas driven processes in some heavy oil reservoirs, such as low gas⁻oil ratio and higher oil recovery rate than expected, are quite different from conventional oil production processes.

Individuals with Multi‐Joint Osteoarthritis Demonstrate Larger Longitudinal Declines in Frailty: Data from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Test the hypothesis that multi‐joint osteoarthritis would modify the relation between time and frailty progression, where more affected joints would lead to larger declines over 6‐years compared to those without osteoarthritis using data from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging.

Area targeting and storage temperature selection for heat recovery loops [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Inter-plant heat integration across a large site can be achieved using a Heat Recovery Loop (HRL). In this paper the relationship between HRL storage temperatures, heating and cooling utility savings (heat recovery) and total HRL exchanger area is ...

Adaptive Observer for Coupled Wave PDE and Infinite ODE With Sampled Data and Unknown Input: Application to Brain Hemodynamics Estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

Study on optimization and mechanism of CO2 injection to enhance oil recovery in mid-deep heavy oil reservoirs

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research
In order to improve the oil recovery of mid-deep heavy oil reservoirs, this study investigates the efficiency of enhanced oil recovery and the mechanisms of oil displacement in mid-deep heavy oil reservoirs using different injected gases (N2, CH4, CO2 ...

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Feasibility study of fracturing flowback fluid degradation by dielectric barrier discharge plasma

open access: yesScientific Reports
Fracturing flowback fluid, which is the waste fluid generated following the hydraulic fracturing of oil wells, has garnered significant attention in recent years regarding its safe treatment technologies. Low-temperature plasma water treatment technology

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.
