Robotic transtibial prosthesis with biomechanical energy regeneration

Industrial Robot: An International Journal, 2009
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to describe a project which seeks to develop a new generation of powered prostheses based on lightweight, uniquely tuned, energy‐storing elastic elements in series with optimal actuator systems that will significantly reduce the peak power requirement of the motor and the total system energy requirement while ...

Investigation into Energy Regeneration of Hydraulic Elevators

2006 2nd IEEE/ASME International Conference on Mechatronics and Embedded Systems and Applications, 2006
In the conventional valve controlled hydraulic elevator, when the cabin moves downwards, the entire potential energy of cabin is wasted and converted into fluid heat by throttling. Thus the energy consumption of a traditional hydraulic elevator is much higher with comparison to that of the traction elevator.

Harnessing Biomechanical Energy Using Shoulder Exoskeleton: Electrical Energy Regeneration

Journal of Mechanisms and Robotics
Abstract Implementing back-drivable actuators with energy regeneration capabilities can improve the efficiency and extend the battery life of robotic exoskeletons, by converting a portion of dissipated energy during negative mechanical work into electrical energy.

Optimal velocity functions under energy regeneration

Acta Mathematicae Applicatae Sinica, 1984
Energy conservation for a subway system can be achieved through implementation of regenerative braking. In the context of natural receptivity, the regenerated energy may be used to supply the power need of nearby trains. Minimization of effective energy usage is examined and such optimal modes of operation of an individual train between a pair of ...

A pyroelectric energy converter which employs regeneration

Ferroelectrics, 1981
Abstract A single-stage regenerative pyroelectric heat engine has been built and tested. The pyroelectric engine converts heat directly into electrical energy. The efficiency of the conversion process was directly measured (the first such measurement for any pyroelectric conversion process).

Control of energy regeneration for electric vehicle

Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University (Science), 2008
To extend electric vehicle (EV) running distance, the vehicle energy regeneration (ER) method and vehicle control strategy were designed based on the original vehicle braking system. The ER principle of direct current (DC) brushless motor was studied, the motor mathematical model and PI control method with torque close-loop were built.

Emulation of nonlinear loads with energy regeneration

XI Brazilian Power Electronics Conference, 2011
This paper presents an nonlinear load emulator for testing AC power supplies and power equipment with energy regeneration capability. The structure is based on back to back three-phase PWM voltage source inverter (VSI). To achieve power balance, an independent control strategy for both PWM VSI is proposed.

Recovery and Regeneration of Energy From Wastes

2020
Management of domestic and industrial wastes is of great concern to all sections of society. Huge quantities of solid wastes are generated from cities, industries, agricultural activities, markets, and hotels on a daily basis. Inadequate management of these wastes poses a serious risk to environment.
