Relationship between the microstructural energy release rate of cortical bone and age under compression condition [PDF]
Most studies evaluated the energy release rate of cortical bone macrostructure under Mode I, Mode II, and mixed Mode I-II loading conditions. However, testing the macrostructural energy release rate requires an initial crack and recording the applied ...

Dynamic energy release rate in couple-stress elasticity [PDF]
This paper is concerned with energy release rate for dynamic steady state crack problems in elastic materials with microstructures. A Mode III semi-infinite crack subject to loading applied on the crack surfaces is considered. The micropolar behaviour of the material is described by the theory of couple-stress elasticity developed by Koiter.

The surface-forming energy release rate versus the local energy release rate [PDF]
Abstract This paper identifies two ways to extract the energy (or power) flowing into a crack tip during propagation based on the power balance of areas enclosed by a stationary contour and a comoving contour. It is very interesting to find a contradiction that two corresponding energy release rates (ERRs), a surface-forming ERR and a local ERR, are ...

Revisiting Energy Release Rates in Brittle Fracture [PDF]
The paper deals, in a two-dimensional setting of linear anisotropic elasticity, with the evolution of a crack path. Closed connected one-dimensional sets, called add-cracks, are added to the tip of given cracks. Via blow-up Hausdorff limits the energy release rate of a sequence of add-cracks is defined and, under certain assumptions, is shown to exist.

Analytical Energy Release Rate of Interfacial Crack in Composite Laminates
In order to study whether the interfacial crack will grow or not in the composite laminates, the energy release rate of a crack in three-point bending model was obtained by using the Timoshenko beam theory and local generalized forces.
