Energy Sources in Laparoscopy

Surgical Innovation, 2004
Traditional monopolar and bipolar electrosurgery remain very useful in laparoscopic surgery. The need for meticulous hemostasis and the tedium of vessel ligation in advanced cases has propelled the development of new energy source devices that have proved to be remarkably helpful in both laparoscopic and open surgery.

SOURCES OF ENERGY AND THE ENVIRONMENT [PDF]

open access: possible, 1994
Energy from fossil fuels have become dominant in the industrialised and industrialising economies of the world. However, fossil fuels are also recognised as heavily polluting and responsible for a range of modern environmental and health problems. Nuclear power is a similar conventional energy source in that it relies upon depletion of a limited stock ...

Energy Sources in the Bat

American Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1956
Early in the period of hibernation, the blood glucose of the bat was found to increase logarithmically with body temperature during dehibernation. Late in the period of hibernation, the blood glucose level increased with temperature but at a slower rate. Glycogen was shown to be a poor source of the energy required during dehibernation.

Energy cost and energy sources in karate

European Journal of Applied Physiology and Occupational Physiology, 1995
Energy costs and energy sources in karate (wado style) were studied in eight male practitioners (age 23.8 years, mass 72.3 kg, maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max) 36.8 ml.min-1.kg-1) performing six katas (formal, organized movement sequences) of increasing duration (from approximately 10 s to approximately 80 s). Oxygen consumption (VO2) was determined

Economics and Energy Sources

Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology, 2013
Energy-based instrumentation has not only facilitated the rapid adoption of laparoscopic surgery, but could be considered essential for the completion of abdominal and pelvic procedures under endoscopic guidance. For decades, relatively simple and generic reusable monopolar and bipolar systems were the only options available.

The Source of Solar Energy

Science, 1927
While I have wandered from the main subject of the sun, to consider the source of stellar energy, the two topics are so intimately related that their solutions are identical. I consider that I have demonstrated the reasonableness of Jeans's theory by the manner in which it seems to fit the observed facts.

Carbohydrates as a source of energy

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 1994
Carbohydrates are the main energy source of the human diet. The metabolic disposal of dietary carbohydrates is direct oxidation in various tissues, glycogen synthesis (in liver and muscles), and hepatic de novo lipogenesis. This latter pathway is quantitatively not important in man because under most conditions the rate of de novo lipogenesis does not ...
