Efficiency of Compressed Air Energy Storage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The simplest type of a Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) facility would be an adiabatic process consisting only of a compressor, a storage and a turbine, compressing air into a container when storing and expanding when producing. This type of CAES would be adiabatic and would if the machines were reversible have a storage efficiency of 100%. However,

Energy efficient and reliable storage disks

Proceedings of the 46th Annual Southeast Regional Conference on XX, 2008
Computer hard disks have different failure probability rates that are a function of age and utilization. In this paper the relationship between the disk age, utilization, and failure probabilities are determined. This relationship is used to estimate a safe utilization zone for a disk dependent on its age.

Lightweight high-efficiency energy-storage transformers

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1991
A study undertaken to determine the potential improvement in efficiency of energy-storage transfers is described. Energy stores of 5 MJ and 1 MA were sized and studied. The performance of transformers made from conductor-grade aluminium was compared with that of transformers made from hyperconductor.

Household energy efficiency management and optimization with energy storage

2016 IEEE 2nd Annual Southern Power Electronics Conference (SPEC), 2016
With the accelerated development of economy, the proportion of household electricity power consumption in total power consumption is getting larger and larger. So it is necessary to have a research on the optimal control of different types of household loads so as to reduce power consumers' cost as well as to improve household energy efficiency.
