Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

Modeling Simulation and Experimental Verification of Focal Length Optimization in Linear Fresnel Collector

open access: yes发电技术
ObjectivesIn order to improve the concentrated light interception rate of linear Fresnel collector (LFC), increase the error control threshold of the tracking system, and enhance the system’s photothermal conversion efficiency, it is necessary to study ...

Ground-source heat pumps and underground thermal energy storage: energy for the future [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We need energy for space heating—but in most cases not where or when energy sources are available. Energy storage, which helps match energy supply and demand, has been practised for centuries, also in Norway.

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Multiphysics Feature-Based State-of-Energy Estimation for LiFePO4 Batteries Using Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory and Particle Swarm-Optimized Kalman Filter

open access: yesApplied Sciences
State-of-energy (SOE) estimation helps to enhance the safety of battery operation and predict vehicle range. However, the voltage plateau of the LiFePO4 (LFP) battery presents a significant challenge for SOE estimation. Therefore, this paper introduces a
