Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Optimizing tillage and fertilization practices to improve the carbon footprint and energy efficiency of wheat–maize cropping systems

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture
To make agricultural systems sustainable in terms of their greenness and efficiency, optimizing the tillage and fertilization practices is essential. To assess the effects of tilling and fertilization practices in wheat–maize cropping systems, a three ...

Uncovering LED light effects on plant growth: new angles and perspectives – LED light for improving plant growth, nutrition and energy-use efficiency

open access: yesActa Horticulturae, 2018
Light supplementation can increase crop yield in greenhouses by promoting photosynthesis and plant growth. However, the high energy costs associated with light supplementation are a predominant factor that limits development and profit improvement of ...

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Efficient energy use in manufacturing. [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1992
The potential for improved industrial efficiency is great and a substantial part of that potential is being realized in the course of events. With new technology and increasing affluence, the composition of production is changing such that energy and materials consumption is growing more slowly than the economy. Through new technologies and appropriate

Green inter-cluster interference management in uplink of multi-cell processing systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper examines the uplink of cellular systems employing base station cooperation for joint signal processing. We consider clustered cooperation and investigate effective techniques for managing inter-cluster interference to improve users ...

Intein‐based modular chimeric antigen receptor platform for specific CD19/CD20 co‐targeting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CARtein is a modular CAR platform that uses split inteins to splice antigen‐recognition modules onto a universal signaling backbone, enabling precise, scarless assembly without re‐engineering signaling domains. Deployed here against CD19 and CD20 in B‐cell malignancies, the design supports flexible multi‐antigen targeting to boost T‐cell activation and
