Methodology to Determine Photovoltaic Inverter Conversion Efficiency for the Equatorial Region

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Photovoltaic inverter conversion efficiency is closely related to the energy yield of a photovoltaic system. Usually, the peak efficiency (ηmax) value from the inverter data sheet is used, but it is inaccurate because the inverter rarely operates at

Accurate Output Forecasting Method for Various Photovoltaic Modules Considering Incident Angle and Spectral Change Owing to Atmospheric Parameters and Cloud Conditions

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Because semiconductors absorb wavelengths dependent on the light absorption coefficient, photovoltaic (PV) energy output is affected by the solar spectrum. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the solar spectrum for highly accurate PV output estimation.

Evolution of the Reactor Antineutrino Flux and Spectrum at Daya Bay

open access: yes, 2017
The Daya Bay experiment has observed correlations between reactor core fuel evolution and changes in the reactor antineutrino flux and energy spectrum. Four antineutrino detectors in two experimental halls were used to identify 2.2 million inverse beta ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Energetic Potential of Tobacco Waste Within Combustion or Anaerobic Digestion

open access: yesEnergies
The growing demand for energy biomass encourages the use of waste and by-products from agriculture. The aim of this study was to assess the suitability of tobacco stalks (TSs) for energy use in the combustion and anaerobic digestion (AD) process, as well

Impact of Component Reliability on Large Scale Photovoltaic Systems’ Performance

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
In this work, the impact of component reliability on large scale photovoltaic (PV) systems’ performance is demonstrated. The analysis is largely based on an extensive field-derived dataset of failure rates of operation ranging from three to five ...

High-yield bond and energy markets

open access: yesEnergy Economics, 2018
Abstract High-yield bonds hold a particularly unique space in the debt market. From many aspects, literature suggests these assets to behave more like stocks than bonds. Given the significant similarities between the high-yield bond and stock markets, it is expected for these markets to be similarly affected by certain outside factors.

Secondary electron emission yield in the limit of low electron energy

open access: yes, 2013
Secondary electron emission (SEE) from solids plays an important role in many areas of science and technology.1 In recent years, there has been renewed interest in the experimental and theoretical studies of SEE.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
