Coordinated regulation of PIEZO2 by alternative splicing, post‐translational modification, membrane trafficking and protein partners

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Regulatory mechanisms such as alternative splicing, post‐translational modification, membrane trafficking, and protein interactions control channel gating, membrane abundance, and overall activity of PIEZO2. Proper regulation supports PIEZO2‐dependent proprioceptive, somatosensory, nociceptive, pruriceptive and interoceptive ...

Variation in Microbiome Composition and Faecal Metabolites Are Associated With Differential Susceptibility to DSS‐Induced Colitis

open access: yesImmunology, Volume 177, Issue 4, Page 766-783, April 2026.
C57BL/6 mice from Charles River Laboratories (CR) have enhanced mucosal immune action relative to C57BL/6 mice from Jackson Laboratories (JAX). CR mice are more susceptible to severe DSS‐induced colitis than JAX mice. Co‐housing transfers colitis susceptibility from CR mice to JAX mice.

Healthy Dietary Patterns and Risk of Major Eye Diseases: Evidence From Nationally Population‐Based Data and Bibliometric Analysis

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
This study found that higher adherence to HEI‐2020, DASH, and Mediterranean dietary patterns was associated with a lower prevalence of selected major eye diseases. ABSTRACT The associations between dietary patterns and major eye diseases remain incompletely understood.

Thrombin Generation Induced by Complement Component C1q Interaction With the Receptor for the Globular Head of C1q on Adventitial Fibroblasts and Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Heightened inflammatory and thrombotic processes are common hallmarks of vascular diseases. The interaction between these two processes remains unclear and a better understanding of these links can allow for the design of more effective treatment options.

Multidisciplinary Management of Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatohepatitis: A Single‐Centre European Experience

open access: yesLiver International Communications, Volume 7, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) can progress to steatohepatitis and fibrosis, often coexisting with obesity, type 2 diabetes, dyslipidaemia and hypertension. We evaluated the effectiveness of a one‐year, Mediterranean, hospital‐based lifestyle programme in patients with fibrotic steatohepatitis.

Sex Matters: Hormonal and Chromosomal Determinants of Autoimmunity and Anti‐Cancer Immunity Across the Lifespan

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 338, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Sex plays a key role in shaping both anti‐cancer immunity and autoimmunity. Biological factors underlying sexual dimorphism have now been identified in multiple aspects of anti‐cancer immunity and autoimmunity. These factors include sex differences in hormone levels, chromosome complement, and expression of the long non‐coding RNA XIST.
