Hydrogen incorporation in palladium is directly probed using in situ ambient‐pressure hard X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy under realistic, application‐relevant conditions. Correlated structural, spectroscopic, and theoretical analysis reveals how hydrogen loading modifies structure, electronic structure, and metal‐hydrogen bonding, resolving long ...

We have measured the rf magnetoconductivity of unidirectional lateral superlattices (ULSLs) by detecting the attenuation of microwave through a coplanar waveguide placed on the surface. ULSL samples with the principal axis of the modulation perpendicular

Livestock Tango: U.S. and Latin America Dance Together, but Who Will Lead?
ABSTRACT This study examines the competitiveness between Latin American and U.S. livestock and meat sectors. We employ a computable general equilibrium modeling framework to evaluate two scenarios: coordinated improvements in Latin American productivity, transport efficiency, and market access (Scenario I), and the minimum productivity gains required ...

Histochemical and immunohistological approach to comparative neuromuscular diseases.
The broad category of neuromuscular diseases covers conditions that involve the weakness or wasting of the body muscles. These problems may occur in the spinal cord, the peripheral nerves or the muscle fibers.

Engel Lie rings with chain conditions
A result of Max Zorn states that if a Lie ring satisfies the maximal condition for subrings and if each element is a bounded left Engel element then the Lie ring is nilpotent. The purpose of this paper is to extend this result to Lie rings satisfying the general Engel condition and with no infinite strictly ascending chains of abelian subrings.

Food Tastes in the United States: Convergence or Divergence?
ABSTRACT This study investigates how food consumption tastes have changed in recent decades across the United States. Using NielsenIQ data for over 77 million transactions, there is evidence of divergence in food tastes across regions from 2007 to 2016 and across households of different income, education, and race/ethnicity groups.

Assessment of transparent exopolymer particles in the Arctic Ocean implemented into the coupled ocean–sea ice–biogeochemistry model FESOM2.1–REcoM3 [PDF]
We present an assessment of the coupled ocean–sea ice–biogeochemistry model FESOM2.1–REcoM3, in which we integrated state equations for dissolved acidic polysaccharides (PCHO) and transparent exopolymer particles (TEP), as proposed by Engel et al. (2004),

Observation of pinning mode of stripe phases of 2D systems in high Landau levels
We study the radio-frequency diagonal conductivities of the anisotropic stripe phases of higher Landau levels near half integer fillings. In the hard direction, in which larger dc resistivity occurs, the spectrum exhibits a striking resonance, while in ...

Preoperative CT based on lymph node size shows moderate accuracy for detecting nodal metastasis in colon cancer. In this meta‐analysis of 29 studies (5,634 patients), pooled sensitivity and specificity were 0.69 and 0.66. Size‐based CT alone has limited value for clinical decision‐making.
