Cholesterol Functionalized Nanoparticles Are Effective against Helicobacter pylori, the Gastric Bug: A Proof‐of‐Concept Study

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 10, April 15, 2025.
Helicobacter pylori gastric infection is widespread and recurrency is common, fuelled by bacterial resistance to antibiotics. Therefore, specific and noninducing resistance alternative treatments are an urgent need. Taking advantage of this gastric pathogen auxotrophy for cholesterol, a “trojan horse” strategy for H.

Neuro‐Immunomodulatory Potential of Nanoenabled 4D Bioprinted Microtissue for Cartilage Tissue Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 5, February 18, 2025.
4D‐bioprinted HCM nanoenabled with ibuprofen‐PLGA nanoparticles is presented. In an in vitro inflamed environment, nanoenabled HCM reduced IL‐1β and IL‐6 release and maintained ECM production, and in vivo, its secretome reduced dendritic cell recruitment, and inflammatory mediators, with no impact on nerve sprouting, indicating neuro‐immunomodulatory ...

Embedding Bioprinting of Low Viscous, Photopolymerizable Blood‐Based Bioinks in a Crystal Self‐Healing Transparent Supporting Bath

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 9, Issue 1, January 20, 2025.
Crystal self‐healing embedding bioprinting (CLADDING) enables the use of low viscosity protein‐based hydrogels as bioinks. By printing liquid bioinks within a transparent, self‐healing support bath governed by complex coacervation, CLADDING allows for the creation of stable, high‐density cellular constructs with excellent viability.

Patient‐Derived Melanoma Immune‐Tumoroids as a Platform for Precise High throughput Drug Screening

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 11, Issue 48, December 26, 2024.
Patient‐derived melanoma immune‐tumoroids are developed, consisting of tumor cells, keratinocytes, fibroblasts, and monocytes. These 300 µm MCTs replicate tumor architecture and behavior, closely resembling in vivo tumors. Their secretome panel demonstrate their immune reassembly capacity.

Tunable Hybrid Hydrogels of Alginate and Cell‐Derived dECM to Study the Impact of Matrix Alterations on Epithelial‐to‐Mesenchymal Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 13, Issue 29, November 22, 2024.
This study introduces a novel 3D model to explore how ECM properties impact EMT in breast cancer. By combining mechanically‐tunable alginate hydrogels with tumoral‐like decellularized ECM (adECM), the platform successfully recreates key aspects of the TME.
