Glioblastoma‐activated pericytes support tumor growth via immunosuppression

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 7, Issue 4, Page 1232-1239, April 2018., 2018
Glioblastoma‐activated pericytes develop an immunosuppressive phenotype, reducing T‐cell activation through the induction of an anti‐inflammatory response. Pericytes support glioblastoma growth in vitro and in vivo. Abstract Glioblastoma multiforme is the most common and aggressive primary brain tumor, with an extremely poor prognosis.

Bacterioplankton Activity in a Meso‐eutrophic Subtropical Coastal Lagoon

open access: yesInternational Journal of Microbiology, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
The aim of this study was to investigate whether the bacterioplankton activity in the meso‐eutrophic Conceição Lagoon would increase significantly under allochthonous inputs of inorganic nutrients and organic carbon. Abundance and biomass of bacterioplankton were evaluated under three treatments: light (14 h light/10 h dark), complete darkness (dark ...

Evaluation of Hemagglutination Activity of Chitosan Nanoparticles Using Human Erythrocytes

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
Chitosan is a polysaccharide composed of randomly distributed chains of β‐(1‐4) D‐glucosamine and N‐acetyl‐D‐glucosamine. This compound is obtained by partial or total deacetylation of chitin in acidic solution. The chitosan‐based hemostatic agents have been gaining much attention in the management of bleeding.

Solar CPC Pilot Plant Photocatalytic Degradation of Indigo Carmine Dye in Waters and Wastewaters Using Supported‐TiO2: Influence of Photodegradation Parameters

open access: yesInternational Journal of Photoenergy, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
The photocatalytic degradation of indigo carmine (IC) dye in the presence of titanium dioxide under different conditions was reported. Several factors which interfere with the photodegradation efficiency as catalyst concentration, pH, initial concentration of dye, presence of inorganic anions, temperature, and the addition of hydrogen peroxide were ...
