A GENERAL ENGINEERING SYSTEM ON A MICRO?!
Computer-Aided Design, 1982Only 3 years ago a European Community study, when discussing microcomputers, stated “. the major restriction on the use of microcomputers will be the access to aplication programs for building “. That report also states that to permit the effectiveness of microcomputers, a “major technical breakthrough” is required.

THE NEXT GENERATION ROCKET ENGINES
Acta Astronautica, 1989Abstract This paper examines propulsion system technologies for earth-to-orbit vehicles, and describes several propulsion system concepts which could support the recommendations of the Commission for Space Development for the year 2000. The hallmark of that system must and will be reliability.

Generation and Production of Engineered Antibodies
Molecular Biotechnology, 2004Various forms of recombinant monoclonal antibodies are being used increasingly, mainly for therapeutic purposes. This review specifically focuses on what is now called antibody engineering, and discusses the generation of chimeric, humanized, and fully human recombinant antibodies, immunoglobulin fragments, and artificial antigen-binding molecules ...

Generalizing thermal resistance and a general thermal engine
American Journal of Physics, 2020This article outlines a generalization of the thermal resistance concept used to model and quantify the rates of spontaneous heat transfer. This leads to the natural corollary that a Carnot cycle possesses zero thermal resistance and provides restatements of the Clausius and Kelvin statements of the second law of thermodynamics.

A Generic Process for Requirements Engineering
2002This chapter introduces the concept of a process for the development of systems. It starts by examining the way in which systems are developed. This leads to the identification of a development pattern that can be used in many different contexts. This development pattern is expressed as a generic process and is explained in some detail.

Diakoptics as a general approach in engineering
Journal of Engineering Mathematics, 1987The well-known method of tearing: \(''Mz=d\), \(M=A+B\), A simple, solution of linear systems only with A and the small non-zero partition of B'' is considered and generalized to the cases, when M is not square. It is pointed out, that this method is only advantageous, if A has a special form, f.i. block-diagonal or block-banded. Because there are some

Torque generation model for diesel engine
42nd IEEE International Conference on Decision and Control (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37475), 2004In this paper a combustion model of direct injection diesel engine is proposed to calculate the in-cylinder pressure and a crank-slider mechanism model to calculate instantaneous indicated torque. The crankshaft is modelled as a rigid body. The parameters of both models are identified via non-linear least square optimization algorithm.

Engineering a production code generator
Proceedings of the 1982 SIGPLAN symposium on Compiler construction - SIGPLAN '82, 1982This paper describes the structure of a code generator formed by merging the best aspects of three code generation techniques: Graham-Glanville parser-driven code generation [G] [GG] [GR] [HG], the register allocation/spill mechanism from the Portable C Compiler [J], and a code template expander [W].

Engineering a General Education Program: Designing Mechanical Engineering General Education Courses
Innovative Higher Education, 2012The Department of Mechanical Engineering at our institution created two engineering courses for the General Education Program that count towards second level general science credit (traditional science courses are first level). The courses were designed for the general student population based upon the requirements of our General Education Program and ...

Generation of a Tissue-Engineered Thymic Organoid
2007The thymic microenvironment provides essential support for the generation of a functional and diverse population of human T cells. In particular, the three-dimensional (3D) thymic architecture contributes to critical cell-cell interactions. We report that thymic stroma, arrayed on a synthetic 3D matrix, supports the development of functional human T ...
