A Review of Tribological Behavior of Wire Ropes: Generation, Characteristics, Effects, and Protection

open access: yesLubricants
Steel wire ropes are key load-bearing components in systems such as mine hoisting, bridge cableways, elevators, and cranes, and frictional wear is among the earliest occurring and most easily accumulated form of damage.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Fretting Friction and Wear Characteristics of the Internal Spiral Contact Steel Wires in the Hoisting Wire Rope Under Different Service Conditions

open access: yesLubricants
As a critical load-bearing component in mine hoisting systems, the service performance and lifespan of wire ropes are limited by the fretting wear behavior among their internal wires and strands.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Study on the Control Parameter of the Complex Underground Space Engineering Based on the Complementary Energy Principle with Mixed Variables

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
The control parameter of the complex underground space structure with the Track Panel Tunnel and wall columns was studied. An analysis method of the control parameter was established based on the complementary energy principle with mixed variables.

Parameter Identification on Lumped Parameters of the Hydraulic Engine Mount Model [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
Hydraulic Engine Mounts (HEM) are important vibration isolation components with compound structure in the vehicle powertrain mounting system. They have the characteristic that large damping and high dynamic stiffness in the high frequency region, and small damping and low dynamic stiffness in the low frequency region, which can meet the requirements of

Lumped-Parameter Modelling of Cardiovascular System Dynamics under Different Healthy and Diseased Conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Cardiovascular disease is the most common cause of death in the modern society, and research into the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases is an urgent task.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Applying the proto-theory of design to explain and modify the parameter analysis method of conceptual design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This article reports on the outcomes of applying the notions provided by the reconstructed proto-theory of design, based on Aristotle’s remarks, to the parameter analysis (PA) method of conceptual design.
