Beat-to-beat fetal heart rate analysis using portable medical device and wavelet transformation technique [PDF]

open access: yesHeliyon, 2022
Objective: Beat-to-beat tele-fetal monitoring and comparison with clinical data are studied with a wavelet transformation approach. Tele-fetal monitoring is a big progress toward a wearable medical device for pregnant women capable of obtaining prenatal ...

Deformation and Failure Mechanisms of Natural/Waste Rubber Blends Under Mechanical and Thermal Cycles: A Synchrotron In Situ Study [PDF]

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, Volume 46, Issue 21, November 6, 2025.
This study explores how ground tire rubber (GTR) enhances strain‐induced crystallization (SIC) in natural rubber (NR) under mechanical and thermal cycles. Using in situ WAXD, it reveals improved reinforcement, delayed failure, and increased thermal resistance while increasing GTR content.

Computer-assisted initial diagnosis of rare diseases [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2016
Introduction. Most documented rare diseases have genetic origin. Because of their low individual frequency, an initial diagnosis based on phenotypic symptoms is not always easy, as practitioners might never have been exposed to patients suffering from ...

Dynamically vulcanized polylactic acid/natural rubber/waste rubber blends: Effect of the crosslinking agent on the morphology and tensile properties

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 139, Issue 41, November 5, 2022., 2022
Abstract PLA/natural rubber (NR)/wastes tire rubber (GTR) were dynamically vulcanizing using dicumyl peroxide (DCP). Swelling, dissolution, and electron microscopy revealed that the unvulcanized and weekly vulcanized blends (DCP < 3 wt%) show a continuous rubber phase while the highly vulcanized blends (DCP > 3 wt%) show co‐continuous rubber/PLA phase.

Hydrostatic pressure dependence in tensile and compressive behavior of an acrylonitrile–butadiene–styrene copolymer

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 139, Issue 23, June 15, 2022., 2022
The strain‐rate dependence for an ABS and a PMMA polymer have been analyzed in both compression and tension to determine hydrostatic pressure‐dependence. For ABS, a yield criterion has been compared to finite element simulations using the EGP model. Both methods give quantitatively similar results for yield stress prediction, but only the FE model is ...

Ultrathin Wide‐Bandgap a‐Si:H‐Based Solar Cells for Transparent Photovoltaic Applications

open access: yesSolar RRL, Volume 6, Issue 1, January 2022., 2022
Ultrathin a‐Si:H/oxide transparent solar cells are reported. The use of oxide‐based carrier selective contacts and the effect of varying thickness of a‐Si:H films on the transparent photovoltaic properties of the devices, namely Average Visible Transmittance (AVT), Power Conversion Efficiency (PCE) and Light Utilization Efficiency (LUE) is studied.

The role of public administrations in promoting open municipal markets

open access: yesUrban Agriculture &Regional Food Systems, Volume 7, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Abstract Agroecological transitions require steps to be taken to shorten food circuits that prioritize local food markets and their social dimension. Such a measure would include open municipal markets (OMMs) because of their role in promoting the social nature of the agroecological transitions.

Reinforcement Learning with Probabilistic Boolean Network Models of Smart Grid Devices

open access: yesComplexity, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
The area of smart power grids needs to constantly improve its efficiency and resilience, to provide high quality electrical power in a resilient grid, while managing faults and avoiding failures. Achieving this requires high component reliability, adequate maintenance, and a studied failure occurrence. Correct system operation involves those activities
