Machine learning in solid mechanics: Application to acoustic metamaterial design

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 125, Issue 14, 30 July 2024.
Abstract Machine learning (ML) and Deep learning (DL) are increasingly pivotal in the design of advanced metamaterials, seamlessly integrated with material or topology optimization. Their intrinsic capability to predict and interconnect material properties across vast design spaces, often computationally prohibitive for conventional methods, has led to

Enhanced Selective Contact Behavior in a‐Si:H/oxide Transparent Photovoltaic Devices via Dipole Layer Integration

open access: yesSolar RRL, Volume 8, Issue 14, July 2024.
Herein, ultrathin a‐Si:H/oxide transparent photovoltaic devices are presented with notable improvement in efficiency given by a strong increase in open‐circuit voltage (Voc) thanks to the addition of dipolar interfacial layers at the electron‐transport layer based on poly(amidoamine) and polyethyleneimine.

Study of the active flow control of an airfoil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The student will use a CFD code for simulating the turbulent flow around an airfoil with and without active flow control. The student should have to get familiar with the code and run several cases in order to analyse the influence of different ...

Semitransparent Wide Bandgap Cu2ZnGe(S,Se)4 Thin‐Film Solar Cells: Role of the Sulfurization Process

open access: yesSolar RRL, Volume 8, Issue 4, February 2024.
Efficient semitransparent Cu2ZnGe(S,Se)4 thin‐film solar cells with performance of 3.1% and 2.7 % and Eg = 1.73 and 1.86 eV are fabricated. The reduction of the absorber thickness to 400 nm results in a higher transparency of ≈40% in the near‐infrared, but also in lower devices efficiency because of the different back‐interface and ZnS phase formation.
