Enhanced biological phosphorus removal in a semifull-scale SBBR

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 2001
A 17 m3 Sequencing Batch Biofilm Reactor (SBBR) was operated for enhanced biological phosphorus removal and nitrification for a period of 384 days. Enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) activity was instantly induced after start-up of EBPR operation mode and low phosphate effluent values were reached from the first batch onward.

A MATHEMATICAL MODEL FOR ENHANCED BIOLOGICAL PHOSPHORUS REMOVAL

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 1994
The incorporation of enhanced biological phosphorus elimination in the single sludge process is a contemporary challenge in the design of biological wastewater treatment plants. The simultaneous biological removal of nitrogen and phosphorus is a process of considerable technical and biological complexity owing to the mixed substrates and the diversity ...

Using the activated sludge model 2d (ASM2d) to understand and predict the phosphorus accumulating organisms mechanism in enhanced biological phosphorus removal in relation to disintegrated sludge as a carbon source [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Carbon sources are considered as one of the most important factors in the performance of enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR). Disintegrated sludge (DS) can act as carbon source to increase the efficiency of EBPR.

Removal and recovery of phosphorus from municipal wastewaters using a ferric nanoparticle adsorbent [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Phosphorus is removed from wastewater streams to prevent the ecologically harmful effects of eutrophication in receiving natural systems. Current chemical and biological techniques for removing phosphorus from wastewater are not able to practicably ...

Removal of Nitrogen and Phosphorus from Wastewater by Modified Pyrite in a Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
The removal efficiency of nitrogen and phosphorus is challenging in the conventional biological nitrogen and phosphorus removal processes. In this study, the modified pyrite was used as the fillings of se-quencing batch reactor (SBR) in order to improve ...

Calcium effect on enhanced biological phosphorus removal

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 2006
The role of calcium (Ca) in enhanced biological phosphorus removal and its possible implications on the metabolic pathway have been studied. The experience has been carried out in an SBR under anaerobic–aerobic conditions for biological phosphorus removal during 8 months.

Effect of influent nutrient ratios and hydraulic retention time (HRT) on simultaneous phosphorus and nitrogen removal in a two-sludge sequencing batch reactor process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A laboratory-scale anaerobic–anoxic/nitrification sequencing batch reactor (A2N- SBR) fed with domestic wastewater was operated to examine the effect of varying ratios of influent COD/P, COD/TN and TN/P on the nutrient removal.

ANALYSIS AND SELECTION OF TECHNOLOGY FOR PHOSPHORUS REMOVAL FROM MUNICIPAL WASTEWATER [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnologia Acta
Phosphorus removal from municipal wastewater is essential to prevent eutrophication and support the transition toward a circular economy. Efficient treatment requires not only compliance with discharge standards but also consideration of the potential ...
