Metabolic enhancement of mammalian developmental pausing

2022
AbstractThe quest to model and modulate embryonic development became a recent cornerstone of stem cell and developmental biology. Mammalian developmental timing is adjustable in vivo by preserving preimplantation embryos in a dormant state called diapause.

Nanotechnology Reprogramming Metabolism for Enhanced Tumor Immunotherapy

ACS Nano
Mutation burden, hypoxia, and immunoediting contribute to altered metabolic profiles in tumor cells, resulting in a tumor microenvironment (TME) characterized by accumulation of toxic metabolites and depletion of various nutrients, which significantly hinder the antitumor immunity via multiple mechanisms, hindering the efficacy of tumor immunotherapies.

Metabolic enhancement due to plasmid maintenance

Biotechnology Letters, 1994
Plasmid maintenance allows the strain JM109 of Escherichia coli to grow in a minimal defined medium (M9). JM109 carrying no plasmid can hardly grow in M9 whereas JM109 carrying one, two and three plasmids have a clear metabolic advantage over the untransformed strain.

Metabolic Enhancement of the Soldier Brain

2019
Abstract This chapter highlights current understanding of human limits of performance, with emphasis on soldier-related research and the mechanisms of stress that typically affect soldier performance. How we exercise, eat, rest, and manage our emotions has a major effect on brain metabolism and human performance.

Nutrition to Enhance Metabolic-Bariatric Surgery Outcomes

Obesity Surgery
Gender-specific post-surgical goals for 12-month percent body fat (%BF) based on World Health Organization (WHO) obesity thresholds and for lean mass-sparing were published as preliminary body composition (BC) guidelines to address a knowledge gap in metabolic-bariatric surgery (MBS).

Enhanced bone metabolism induced by acupuncture.

Journal of nuclear medicine : official publication, Society of Nuclear Medicine, 1996
A 29-yr-old man with several years of back pain was referred for a bone scan. High-resolution regional spot images of the skeleton were obtained following intravenous injection of 20 mCi 99mTc-methylene diphosphonate. Posterior and lateral images of the skull showed focal increased uptake in several regions of the skull.

Enhancement of metabolism of jeopardized myocardium by nifedipine

International Journal of Cardiology, 1987
To define effects of nifedipine on regional metabolism in jeopardized myocardium we quantified accumulation of carbon-11 labeled palmitate ([11C]palmitate) in patients with acute myocardial infarction by positron emission tomography in a randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled study. Tomographic studies were performed prior to treatment as soon as

Stress-Enhanced Metabolism of Abscisic Acid

1993
During water stress, abscisic acid (ABA) accumulates rapidly to high levels in leaves and roots, and various approaches have established that this increase is due to de novo synthesis rather than to liberation of ABA from a conjugate. Biosynthesis takes place via the indirect pathway in which ABA is derived from 9-cis xanthophylls, such as violaxanthin

Enhancing Cardiomyocyte Purity through Lactate-Based Metabolic Selection

Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine
Direct reprogramming of fibroblasts into chemically induced cardiomyocyte-like cells (CiCMs) through small molecules presents a promising cell source for cardiac regeneration and therapeutic development. However, the contaminating non-cardiomyocytes, primarily unconverted fibroblasts, reduce the effectiveness of CiCMs in various applications.
