Baicalin protects against hepatocyte injury caused by aflatoxin B1 via the TP53-related ferroptosis Pathway

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
Objective: Baicalin has antioxidative, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties. However, its ability to alleviate oxidative stress (OS) and DNA damage in liver cells exposed to aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), a highly hepatotoxic compound, remains uncertain. In

Transparent Inorganic–Organic Bilayer Neural Electrode Array and Integration to Miniscope System for In Vivo Calcium Imaging and Electrophysiology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the BioCLEAR system, a highly transparent and conductive neural electrode array composed of silver nanowires (AgNWs) and doped PEDOT:PSS, enabling neural recordings with minimal optical artifacts. When integrated with a GRIN lens, this cost‐effective neural implant allows simultaneous electrophysiological recording and GCaMP6‐based ...

Measuring and Monitoring Cognition in the Postoperative Period [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
It is common for patients of all ages to experience some degree of cognitive disturbance following surgery. In most cases, impairment appears mild and is restricted to the acute post-operative period, resolving steadily and speedily. In a small number of

Revealing the Auxetic Behavior of Biomimetic Multimaterial and Region‐Specific Nanofibrous Fascicle‐Inspired Scaffolds via Synchrotron Multiscale Digital Volume Correlation: Innovative Building Blocks for the Enthesis Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Enthesis injuries are a worldwide healthcare problem. Biomimetic electrospun enthesis fascicle‐inspired scaffolds, with and without nano‐mineralization are developed. Human Mesenchymal Stromal cells (hMSCs) express the most balanced enthesis markers on the non‐mineralized scaffolds.

The carotid body as a putative therapeutic target for the treatment of neurogenic hypertension [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In the spontaneously hypertensive (SH) rat, hyperoxic inactivation of the carotid body (CB) produces a rapid and pronounced fall in both arterial pressure and renal sympathetic nerve activity (RSA).
