Confined Catalysis of Enzymes: Enhancement Strategies, Materials, and Biosensor Applications
Confined catalysis enhances enzyme activity, stability, and selectivity by encapsulating enzymes in well-defined micro- or nanoscale environments. Unlike conventional immobilization strategies, which primarily stabilize enzymes, this approach actively ...

Accuracy Enhancement of Automated System for Multicomponent Batching of Bulk Materials
In the paper the choice of reasonable structure of automated system for multicomponent batching of bulk materials has been substantiated to minimize the batching error of about 3% in case the recipe mixture includes small components of big importance in ...

Architecture and materials selection in multi-materials design [PDF]
The design process involving both the architecture and the materials represents an hard task mainly due to the high number of potential configurations, thus requiring firstly the development of new and more rigorous approaches but also the development of

Translophagy—A potential link between autophagy impairment and translational errors
Neurodegenerative diseases are characterised by the accumulation of abnormal proteins and protein aggregates, but their origin often remains unknown. We propose that selective autophagy removes damaged protein‐making machinery, preventing errors during protein synthesis.

How do genomes gain new functional parts? In eukaryotes, which tend to evolve under weak selection, much of the genome is junk. Palazzo and Qiu borrow the logic of Markov chains to show how non‐functional DNA becomes functional through the appearance of intermediate states, which arise due to epistasis, buffering, and biochemical messiness, allowing ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Generative detail enhancement for physically based materials
We present a tool for enhancing the detail of physically based materials using an off-the-shelf diffusion model and inverse rendering. Our goal is to enhance the visual fidelity of materials with detail that is often tedious to author, by adding signs of wear, aging, weathering, etc. As these appearance details are often rooted in real-world processes,
