Enkephalin-cell interactions

2000
Enkephalin analogs for multivalent ligand systems, bivalent enkephalins, multivalent enkephalins on polymers, multivalent ligands on vesicles, simultaneous activation of two different receptor systems, and cell interactions of enkephalin/polypeptide conjugates are described.

Immunohistochemical localization of Met-enkephalin, Met-enkephalin-Arg6-Gly7-Leu8, Met-enkephalin-Arg6-Phe7 and Leu-enkephalin in human adrenal medulla and pheochromocytomas

Peptides, 1984
Immunohistochemical localization of Met-enkephalin, Met-enkephalin-Arg6-Gly7-Leu8, Met-enkephalin-Arg6-Phe7 and Leu-enkephalin was studied in human adrenal medulla and pheochromocytomas at the light and electron microscopic levels. Both adrenal medulla and pheochromocytomas (4 adrenal, 1 extra-adrenal) showed scattered or clustered cells which ...

Parallel distribution of methionine-enkephalin-arg6-gly7-leu8 with methionine-enkephalin, leucine-enkephalin and methionine-enkephalin-arg6-phe7 in human and bovine brains

Life Sciences, 1983
Using specific radioimmunoassays(RIAs) for methionine-enkephalin(Met-Enk), leucine-enkephalin(Leu-Enk), methionine-enkephalin-Arg6-Gly7-Leu8 (Met-Enk-Arg-Gly-Leu) and methionine-enkephalin-Arg6-Phe7 (Met-Enk-Arg-Phe), we studied the regional distribution of these opioid peptides in human and bovine brains.

Cerebral application of enkephalins

Experientia, 1977
Implantation of enkephalins A or B into the ventral thalamus or injection into the lateral ventricle of rats evoked only weak signs of stereotyped behavior, but did not cause gnawing.

Demonstration and characterization of immunoreactive methionine-enkephalin, leucine-enkephalin, methionine-enkephalin-Arg6-Gly7-Leu8 and methionine-enkephalin-Arg6-Phe7 in human phaeochromocytoma

Acta Endocrinologica, 1984
Abstract. To elucidate whether or not human phaeochromocytoma contains methionine-enkephalin-Arg6-Gly7-Leu8 (Met-enkephalin-Arg-Gly-Leu) and methionine-enkephalin-Arg6-Phe7 (Met-enkephalin-Arg-Phe) together with methionine-enkephalin (Met-enkephalin) and leucine-enkephalin (Leu-enkephalin), all of which are known to exist in the same precursor molecule

Met-enkephalin-arg6-gly7-leu8 exists together with met-enkephalin-arg6-phe7, met-enkephalin and leu-enkephalin in human stomach

Life Sciences, 1983
Studies on the nucleotide sequence of cloned DNA complementary to mRNA for preproenkephalin A from adrenal medulla and human pheochromocytoma have revealed that this precursor contains 4 copies of methionine-enkephalin(Met-Enk) and one copy each of leu-enkephalin (Leu-Enk), methionine-enkephalin-Arg6-Gly7-Leu8(Met-Enk-Arg6-Gly7-Leu8) and methionine ...

Plasma Met-Enkephalin and Leu-Enkephalin in Chronic Renal Failure

Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation, 1987
Plasma met-enkephalin and leu-enkephalin has been measured in a group of 28 patients with chronic renal failure, to discover whether these opioids are affected by standard haemodialysis and haemofiltration. Met-enkephalin was markedly higher (P less than 0.001) in uraemic patients than in a group of 13 normal subjects, and was directly related to ...

Acetylcholinesterase converts Met5-enkephalin-containing peptides to Met5-enkephalin

Neuroscience Letters, 1988
Acetylcholinesterase (AChE; E.C. 3.1.1.7) was incubated with a number of enkephalin-containing neuropeptides found in the bovine adrenal medulla. Met5-enkephalin and Leu5-enkephalin were the most stable of the peptides studied, while precursors of Met5-enkephalin were converted to Met5-enkephalin. AChE is therefore capable of limited peptidase activity

Immunofluorescence with Met-enkephalin and Leu-enkephalin antibodies in the guinea pig cochlea

Hearing Research, 1984
We have applied an indirect immunofluorescence technique to cryostat sections of guinea pig cochleas using Met-enkephalin and Leu-enkephalin antisera. With both antisera, high immunofluorescence was seen in the inner spiral bundle, the tunnel spiral bundle and the intraganglionic spiral bundle. Immunoreactivity persisted to a dilution of 1/50 000.
