An enriched meshless method for non‐linear fracture mechanics

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2003
AbstractThis paper presents an enriched meshless method for fracture analysis of cracks in homogeneous, isotropic, non‐linear‐elastic, two‐dimensional solids, subject to mode‐I loading conditions. The method involves an element‐free Galerkin formulation and two new enriched basis functions (Types I and II) to capture the Hutchinson–Rice–Rosengren ...

Contrastive mechanisms of groundwater ammonium enrichment in different hydrogeologic settings

Science of The Total Environment, 2023
Although high levels of geogenic ammonium in groundwater have been widely reported, the mechanisms controlling its heterogeneous distribution are not yet well understood. In this study, a comprehensive investigation of hydrogeology, sediments, and groundwater chemistry was coupled with a set of incubation experiments to reveal the contrasting ...

Enriched Environment Elicits Proangiogenic Mechanisms After Focal Cerebral Ischemia

Translational Stroke Research, 2018
Brain has limited capacity for spontaneous recovery of lost function after stroke. Exposure to enriched environment (EE) can facilitate functional recovery, but mechanisms underlying this effect are poorly understood. Here, we used a middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) model to investigate the impact of EE on angiogenesis in the post-ischemic brain

Phycotoxin-Enriched Sea Spray Aerosols: Methods, Mechanisms, and Human Exposure

Environmental Science & Technology, 2021
To date, few studies have examined the role of sea spray aerosols (SSAs) in human exposure to harmful and beneficial marine compounds. Two groups of phycotoxins (brevetoxins and ovatoxins) have been reported to induce respiratory syndromes during harmful algal blooms.

Mechanical enrichment of converted spodumene by selective sieving

Minerals Engineering, 2016
Abstract Spodumene ore can be concentrated in large particle size of 1–6 mm by a dense media separation (DMS) process. The concentrate typically contains relatively large amounts of impurities due to the incomplete liberation of spodumene and the quite narrow density difference between spodumene and gangue minerals.

Mechanisms of cadmium resistance in anaerobic bacterial enrichments degrading pentachlorophenol

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 2003
The mechanisms of heavy-metal resistance used by adapted sulfidogenic and methanogenic enrichments degrading pentachlorophenol in the presence of cadmium (Cd) were studied. The enrichment cultures adapted to and readily tolerated bioavailable Cd concentrations up to 50 ppm while degrading an equal concentration of pentachlorophenol.

Destructuration mechanisms of bread enriched with fibers during mastication

Food Research International, 2016
Three breads of different densities and salt contents were chewed by 16 healthy subjects, with controlled physiological characteristics, for three different stages of mastication until swallowing. The distribution of chewed bread particle size was determined by imaging of the boluses at each stage, for the 3 breads and all subjects.

Mechanical Performance of Nano-Particles Enriched Zinc Rich Coatings

Coatings+ 2019, 2019
Abstract Corrosion is a durability concern for any unprotected structural steel from its exposure environment and coatings are widely used for corrosion protection. Zinc-rich-primer-based three-coat (ZRP) systems are the most widely used for structural steel, since 1980's.

Retention mechanism and enrichment of glycopeptides on titanium dioxide

Analytical Methods, 2013
A uniform method for the facile and selective enrichment of glycopeptides with titanium dioxide (TiO2) is presented. Retention mechanisms between glycopeptides and TiO2 were explored by checking the influence of acetonitrile content, NH3·H2O concentration and formic acid concentration on the retention of glycopeptides.
