Brain and Development, 1994Two children treated for status epilepticus had low plasma phenytoin levels during enteral feeding, despite adequate oral dosage. The target range (10-20 mg/l) was achieved when feeds were stopped, or when intravenous phenytoin was used. Enteral feeding may interfere with the absorption of oral phenytoin thereby compromising seizure control.
